Picking up the events from the previous installment, Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian episode 5 begins with Masachika Kuze returning home while mulling over the conversation he had with Alya. He feels embarrassed while recalling that he promised Alya to stay by her side.

At the same time, he remembers Alya confessing to him in Russian. He wonders whether she was serious. Consequently, Masachika questions himself, whether Alya has been flirting with him in Russian all this while.

However, he quickly brushes off the thought, thinking she may have gotten caught up in that moment and blurted those words out. The boy then remembers his parents fighting, and feels that he shouldn't dabble much in something as flimsy as "love."

Masachika Kuze then confesses to Yuki that although he has joined the student council as a member, he plans to push for Alya to become the next student council president. To Masachika's bewilderment, Yuki acts like a child rather than being depressed.

The narrative for Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian episode 5 switches the location to Seirei High School, where Alya tries her best to act normal in front of Masachika. However, she discovers that the boy isn't like his usual self.

Not only did he not forget to do his homework, but he also didn't appear sleep-deprived. Alya finds it slightly appealing and wonders whether Masachika is truly putting efforts into changing his lifestyle for her.

The scene changes to the school's playing area, where Masachika passes out after getting hit by a volleyball. Later, Alya meets him outside and asks him about his condition.

She checks the boy's temperature to see whether he has a fever. On the other hand, Masachika becomes slightly embarrassed to see Alya up close. To make matters worse, he suddenly recalls Yuki commenting on Alya's bodily appearance.

Masachika also finds Alya's way of drinking water from a tap appealing. He then splashes water on his head to cool off his embarrassing thoughts. Following that, Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian episode 5 shows Maria greeting Masachika.

Later, Alya asks Masachika whether he is hurt. She finally confesses that she thinks the boy hasn't been his usual self the whole day. Masachika then tells Alya that it's because he skipped his breakfast. Undoubtedly, the revelation irks Alya and she becomes angry at Masachika.

In the classroom, Masachika Kuze asks Alya whether she would like to go to the Student Council together. However, the girl doesn't answer her and goes off alone. Masachiak feels he has crossed his line. Suddenly, they notice the members of the baseball and football club apologizing to someone in the Student Council.

Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian episode 5 then shows Chisaki Sarashina, the vice president of Seirei High's Student Council. It is revealed that people used to call her the "boss" due to her rowdy nature.

Moreover, she's known for resorting to "mild violence" to fix matters. The episode shows a lovely moment between Kenzaki and Sarashina, as they exude the vibe of a couple.

After a while, Yuki Suou appears. Kenzaki then commences the Student Council meeting. Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian episode 5 ends with Masachika Kuze formally introducing himself and stating his purpose, which is to be the running mate of Alya in the presidential election.
