The Am I Actually the Strongest? manga series by author Sai Sumimori and illustrator Ai Takahashi is one of the most popular isekai series of recent years. With an anime adaptation set to premiere in July 2023, fans are beginning to put the series on their radars, with those already familiar with the manga series praising it online.

This has resulted in many interested general anime fans wanting to know how they can read Am I Actually the Strongest? series at home. Thankfully, those in the United States who have access to Kodansha’s K Manga application can check out the series there, where new updates are posted every week. Unfortunately, fans in other countries will have to patiently wait for translated volumes to be available for purchase, at least until K Manga expands its availability.

Am I Actually the Strongest? manga series unfortunately much more difficult for non-US fans to find

Where to read

The Am I Actually the Strongest? manga series is serialized on a monthly basis in Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Sirius magazine starting on April 3, 2019. The series has been serialized with this cadence and in Kodansha’s shonen-focused magazine on a regular basis since first premiering.

This also means that the series has yet to be concluded and is still releasing chapters on a monthly basis. While this means the series isn’t yet available to buy and read in full, fans at least have a story to look forward to for the next several years to come.

Unfortunately, this causes additional complication for fans in certain areas and regions of the world. With the Am I Actually the Strongest? manga series being published by Kodansha, most countries aren’t able to access the K Manga app, where the series is regularly updated. The application is only available in the United States currently.

As a result, this makes it much more difficult for international readers who want to try the series to be able to do so. Those outside of the US and Japan interested in checking out the manga series will thus have to wait for volumes to be translated and made available for purchase in their countries.

Series synopsis and what to expect (speculative)

youtube-cover

The Am I Actually the Strongest? manga series follows a shut-in protagonist who is reborn as Reinhart Zenfis, also known as Hart. The series sees Hart be born into royalty but is abandoned by his new parents due to his magic appearing to be weak. They leave him in a forest populated with monsters, turning away without a second thought about Hart’s eventual fate.

As Hart is approached by various monsters and the Fenrir Flay, it’s revealed that Hart’s magic is unbelievably strong. He survives by forcing Flay to submit with his Barrier magic, prompting her to begin guarding and taking care of him. The two are eventually found by Hart’s distant relative, Gold Zenfis, who adopts Hart as his son. He now begins a new life in a world where his magic truly is the strongest, hence the series’ name.

Given the nature of the series, fans can expect it to follow Hart as he learns to harness his magic power and for what purpose he was given such a gift. While there may not be one, such a trope is typical of isekai series with an overpowered protagonist. Fans can also expect the series to turn Hart being abandoned by his royal parents into a major plotline at some point in the future.
