With the Oshi no Ko manga soon set to end, fans have been dreading the conclusion that they can deduce from the already-released manga chapters. While fans wished for the manga to end on a good note, with both Aqua and Ruby living a good life ahead, that seems far from impossible now.
However, with the manga's upcoming final chapter set to be 50 pages long, there is a chance that the two protagonists can still get a happy ending. Unfortunately, if this theory becomes true, manga author Aka Akasaka could be remarked as a bad storyteller. Only time will tell if the implausible theory becomes true or not.

Oshi no Ko theory suggests a dream sequence ending
As most fans worldwide would agree, a dream sequence ending is quite possibly one of the worst ways to end a series. This is because such a development effectively destroys all the narratives that had been built up to that point. The problem is that such an ending is possible in Oshi no Ko due to Crow Girl.
According to a fan theory by @Bastet_Ao3, both Aqua and Ruby Hoshino can still have a good ending in the series if part of what happened till now in the series' conclusion was part of a dream sequence.
As fans might remember, back at the end of Oshi no Ko chapter 157, both Aqua and Ruby were seen sleeping while waiting for Miyako Saitou. The moment Miyako returned home and saw them, all she could wonder was what her children were possibly dreaming.
From the very next chapter, the Oshi no Ko manga switched its pace as the B-Komachi live performance tour began. This development saw Fuyuko Niino go after Ruby and Aqua go after Hikaru Kamiki.
What if the events between chapters 158 and 165 never took place but were only a "what if" situation Crow Girl forced Aqua and Ruby to dream before the dreadful events actually took place. Hence, the final chapter could start with Aqua Hoshino waking up shaken and realizing that he was set to make a huge mistake.
Thereafter, Aqua could speak with Ruby as she firmly tells him that he is more important to her than her career. Following that, Aqua could get Akane's help in getting Hikaru Kamiki arrested, not killed. In addition, Aqua could use this opportunity to call Miyako "mom" and attend Kana Arima's farewell concert all while holding the white glow stick.
This is an ending that most fans would have loved. However, with the prior chapters depicting Aqua's death while protecting Ruby's future, such a retcon could see fans reacting negatively to the same.
One of the biggest reasons for this is due to Akane Kurokawa's external point of view. If someone is having a dream, it does not make sense for some other character to act as narrator for the sequence. Nevertheless, given how manga author Aka Akasaka has shocked fans till now, it is not a turn of events that is impossible.
