Boruto fans have recently claimed that One Piece is struggling when it comes to manga sales, which has resulted in a clash online between these two fanbases on X. That is at par for these fanbases, but it was notorious because of how mistaken they were regarding copies sold of Eiichiro Oda's series.
While sales can have highs and lows throughout the years, there is no denying that One Piece has been a consistent seller since it started decades ago. Therefore, this claim is even more ironic when considering that Boruto has been known at some points for not selling very well, even if critics and fans have appreciated the changes during the recent Two Blue Vortex timeskip.

Boruto fans got into trouble online because they claimed One Piece was struggling with sales
The recent claim on X by user @Itachiflawlesss that One Piece might be struggling with manga sales and "might be canceled like Bleach" is misinformed. This series is the highest-selling manga of all time, and has been a consistent seller, often being among the top three of monthly sales in the industry.
This series, at this point, has become a household name in the manga and anime industry, so there is less chance that it is going to be canceled any time soon. In fact, it is even more likely that author Eiichiro Oda will have all the time he wants to end the series as he sees fit, which is already shown by the fact that the series has over one thousand chapters.
This is even more ironic when considering that Masashi Kishimoto's sequel has, from time to time, struggled with sales. And to add an extra point, even the claim of Bleach getting canceled is wrong since author Tite Kubo struggled with health issues and rushed the ending of the manga.
The manga continued a couple of years ago with the beginning of the Hell arc, thus showing its everlasting popularity and the desire of Shonen Jump to continue with the story.
Reactions online to this claim
It is fair to say that this claim by Boruto fans wasn't going to be left unnoticed by One Piece fans, which started an entire debate online. While quality can vary from one series to another and everyone is entitled to their own preferences, One Piece has been a better seller than Boruto throughout the years.
Boruto, even compared to its original series, Naruto, has struggled to reach those levels of sales. A major reason for that is the fact that the sequel has been divisive to a lot of people, thus struggling to build an audience that can sustain itself through sales.
"Doesn’t that just prove that at One Piece’s lowest (1.5 mil) that it’s better than where Naruto was at (1 mil)? I know you secretly a One Piece fan but the setup is too obvious this time…" someone said.
"Bleach rent free in your head lmao," someone else said.
"Insane set up," another person said.
There is no denying that the Boruto Two Blue Vortex timeskip has been fairly well-received by fans and critics, raising the stakes for the sequel as well. However, there is no denying that there is a large difference in sales with One Piece.
""poorly" whole time its lowest is 1.5 mill," someone said.
"Boruto fan talking about sales," someone else said.
Regardless of sales numbers, the most important part is the joy people can take from these series, which should be the main focus when reading the manga.
