10 best One Piece anime moments chosen during One Piece Day 2024

On August 10, 2024, One Piece Day 2024 commenced in Japan and a popularity poll took place on the first day which declared a winner from the best One Piece anime moments by the votes of the fandom. The best One Piece anime moments were chosen from a list of 100 scenes and the fans that participated in this event were given a chance to vote in this poll.

The top 10 winners of the best One Piece anime moments popularity poll included some fan-favorite scenes from the pre-time skip like the time when Nami gave in and asked for Luffy's help and also from the post-time skip like the Gear 5 awakening of Monkey D Luffy. In this article, the top 10 entries will be ranked the same way they were announced during One Piece Day 2024.

10) Luffy's Gear 5 awakening

During the Wano arc, after the humiliating defeat against Kaido for the third time, Luffy's body lay lifeless on top of Onigashima as the samurai despaired over their unfortunate fate. Out of nowhere, the drums of liberation started playing and Luffy's body started changing. The Straw Hat Captain then jumped and took to the moon, showcasing his new gear that also revealed the true name of his devil fruit.

During the Wano arc, Yamato thought of her time with Ace when the latter told her about his brother Luffy. The anime also saw Yamato in the perspective of Ace who Luffy declared his dream which has been kept a secret to this day. Surprisingly, this scene was combined with the revelation of Roger's dream as these two could have the same dreams.

8) Vivi's Goodbye

Unfortunately, Vivi couldn't join the crew because she was the next heir of her kingdom. So, as they departed, they raised their hands and showed the 'X' mark the Straw Hats shared with Vivi, to make Vivi sure that she would always be a part of their crew.

After Robin left the Straw Hat Pirates with Cipher Pol, Monkey D Luffy never stopped following her and they reached a standstill before entering the Enies Lobby. Luffy asked Robin to be true to herself after which she claimed that she wanted to live and spend time with her friends, the Straw Hats. Luffy then declared war against the World Government and masked into Enies Lobby to save Robin.

One of the saddest yet also, one of the best One Piece anime moments chosen by the fandom on One Piece Day 2024, Ace's death is one of the most heartfelt and tear-jerking deaths in the series. The fact that the fandom still remembers him to this day is nothing short of Ace's character being as loved as some of the Straw Hats.

During the Marineford arc, after Luffy saved Ace, these two rushed towards Whitebeard's ship to escape. Unfortunately, after Akainu called out Whitebeard, Ace got triggered and rushed to shut his mouth. Luffy was caught between them and Ace had to step in front of him to block Akainu's magma attack. This made a hole inside Ace who died after thanking Luffy for everything he had done for him.

5) Zoro's Nothing Happened

At the end of the Thriller Bark arc, where all the Straw Hat Pirates were lying on the ground defeated, warlord Kuma picked up Luffy to take him to the World Government. Zoro and Sanji volunteered for them instead.

Zoro took Sanji out of the way and volunteered to go with Kuma. However, Kuma extracts Luffy's pain and asks Zoro to bear it. Zoro jumped in without any fear and bore the pain of his captain. After everyone regained consciousness, Zoro stood in the middle of a bloodbath. When Sanji askedwhat happened, the swordsman just replied, 'Nothing Happened.'

After leaving the Straw Hat Pirates in the absence of Luffy during the Whole Cake Island, the Straw Hat captain followed him to Whole Cake Island to make him rethink his decision. After fighting Luffy and belittling his crew, Sanji left and while he was on his way, Luffy called him out and said that he could never become the Pirate King without Sanji.

3) Nami and Luffy's Moment

After betraying the Straw Hat Pirates, Nami returned to her village to give Arlong the amount he demanded to leave Nami alone. Unfortunately, every claim Arlong made was fake and he left Nami behind in despair as Arlong marched to destroy Nami's village. Curing Arlong in despair, Luffy appeared before Nami and she asked him for help. Luffy put his hat on Nami and accepted her request.

2) Corazon and Trafalgar Law Last Moment

One of the most surprising and unexpected choices that managed to score second place in the best One Piece anime moments. This also indicated that the Japanese fandom is more attracted to emotional scenes as compared to well-animated ones, as the Japanese were the majority that took part in One Piece Day 2024.

After running away from Vergo, Corazon realized that his death could never be avoided and focused all his attention on saving Law. He hid Law inside a treasure chest and smiled so that Law could remember him as a smiling man. Doflamingo appeared afterward and shot Corazon. Corazon tried to stay alive as long as possible to ensure Law's exit using his devil fruit powers.

With the series having numerous scenes that made some parts of the fandom cry, the farewell of Merry was where every fan of One Piece cried. This moment had nostalgia, and emotion like none other, and the voice acting in this scene was also sensational. After escaping Enies Lobby, the Straw Hat Pirates had to stop because their ship, the Going Merry, had reached its limit. So, upon Iceberg's request, the Straw Hat gave their ship a farewell.
