Black Butler season 4 episode 6 highlights: Ciel's father, Vincent Phantomhive's feats are revealed

Picking up the events from the previous installment, Black Butler season 4 episode 6 begins with a flashback scene featuring Ciel Phantomhive's father, Vincent Phantomive, casually reading a book on the lawn. The ex-Green Lion house captain, Deidrich, scolds him for slacking off his Prefect duties.

However, Vincent's offensive reply concerning his name infuriates Deidrich, so he slanders the Sapphire House. Vincent doesn't like the Green Lion Prefect's shameful comments about his house, so he lays down a proposition.

Ciel's father invites Deidrich to bet on which house will win the cricket tournament. According to the rules, the loser must comply with any one demand made by the winner.

Even though the Sapphire House always comes last in the tournament, Vincent's confidence impresses Deidrich, so he accepts the offer. Yet shockingly, Black Butler season 4 episode 6 shows Vincent leading his team to victory against the Green Lion House.

After losing the battle, Deidrich goes to Vincent and says he's ready to comply with his demands. Interestingly, the Earl asks him to become his Drudge.

Following the flashback moment, Black Butler season 4 episode 6 returns to the present, where Edward's father tells Ciel that his father truly played a brilliant game. On the other side, the vice-principal prepares the lots for the matchups.

However, Black Butler season 4 episode 6 reveals Ciel and Sebastian have already rigged the draws. According to the pre-determined results, the Sapphire House plays its first match against Redmond's Scarlet Fox. The boy doesn't want to rely on miracles. Instead, he wishes to snatch the victory by force.

Black Butler season 4 episode 6 time-skips to the match day, when Lawrence Bluewer's Sapphire Owl takes on Edgar Redmond's Scarlet Fox. The red house wins the toss and decides to field first.

The episode reveals that in Weston College's cricket tournament, each match consists of two innings of 20 overs at maximum. Soma Asman Kadar bowls right-arm quick against the Sapphire Owl's captain, Lawrence Bluewer. With his raw pace, he bowls him out on the first ball.

A procession follows after Lawrence's dismissal, with Clayton and others falling cheaply against the red team's excellent bowling. Following a poor performance with the bat, the Sapphire Owl comes to bowl in the Scarlet Fox's first innings.

However, the outcome remains the same, as their batters plunder the Sapphire Owl team's sub-par bowling. Especially the red team's captain, Edgar Redmond showcases his impressive range-hitting ability to clear the fences for a maximum.

Following that in Black Butler season 4 episode 6, Ciel Phantomhive decides to play foul. During the innings break, Sebastian spoils the red team's lunch with purgatives, causing them to forfeit the game. The crowd celebrates the Sapphire Owl's miraculous victory, even though it comes with deceit.

The Blue Team's second game against Green Lion begins

Following the Sapphire Owl's victory over the Scarlet Fox, Black Butler season 4 episode 6 shifts the focus to the game between Violet Wolf and Green Lion houses. Gregory Violet's drudge showcases his impressive bowling skills to overwhelm the Green House batters.

However, Herman Greenhill arrives at the crease with his blade, towering monstrous sixes against the same balls bowled by the Drudge. Even though the Violet Wolf fights, they fail to defeat the defending champions.

Black Butler season 4 episode 6 then shows the Green Lions facing the Sapphire Owl at the finals. The coin flips in favor of the blue team, and they decide to bat first. Elsewhere, Michael Sebastian conducts an orchestra.

Interestingly, the Sapphire Owl batters, who couldn't hit the ball in the middle of their bat against the Scarlet Fox, find it easier against the Green Lion house. Herman observes the batters are playing with their eyes closed.

Black Butler season 4 episode 6 then delves into a flashback, where Ciel Phantomhive explains to his teammates that they cannot win against the green team with their lack of physical strength.

He tells them that the bowlers will try to hit the stumps. As such, if they can keep their bat 28 inches high and 9 inches wide in front of the stump and swing it, they can easily score runs. As for the timing of the swing, they will rely on the music.

Green Lion players observe the Sapphire Owl's ploy and condone it. However, Herman Greenhill, the Green House Prefect, feels they have worked hard to pull off such a trick. Black Butler season 4 episode 6 then shows Edward coming to bowl.

He perfectly copies the ball bowled by the violet team's ace bowler. It's then revealed Edward admires everyone he feels superior to him. He strives for excellence, even though he considers himself an ordinary person.

At that moment, Michaelis Sebastian and Ciel Phantomhive notice the headmaster among the spectators. Black Butler season 4 episode 6 ends with Sebastian leaving the conductor's duties McMillan and chasing after the headmaster.
