Anime fans have been patiently awaiting the return of the Black Clover anime ever since it went on a hiatus over three years ago. However, at the time of writing, Studio Pierrot has given no updates on a potential season 5 of the beloved anime, despite having enough source material to adapt.

As fans continue awaiting the return of the Black Clover anime, few have started speculating that the animation studio may be waiting for the manga to end before announcing a fifth season of the anime, in order to avoid fillers. If that's the case, then Studio Pierrot may be giving the series a similar treatment to Bleach TYBW, which was also adapted once the manga reached its end.

Studio Pierrot might be doing proper justice to the Black Clover anime by giving it a Bleach TYBW treatment

The Black Clover anime, which premiered on October 3, 2017, aired about 170 episodes over the course of 4 seasons. It was animated by Studio Pierrot and reached the conclusion of its fourth season on March 30, 2021. Although the anime has been on a hiatus for over 3 years at this point, the animation studio has not announced any plans for a fifth season.

This led many to speculate that the studio may be awaiting the conclusion of the manga, which is currently in its final arc, before announcing season 5 of the anime. On the other hand, others simply presumed that the beloved anime may not return anytime soon.

However, dedicated fans of the series cannot wait for the anime to return from its hiatus. With the series approaching its 10th anniversary, the anticipation is currently at an all-time high. The urge to bring back the anime is certainly understandable, especially for a series as epic and beloved as Black Clover.

That being said, rushing the anime's return could end up damaging its quality. One of the original anime's biggest criticisms was its pacing, especially since a few filler episodes here and there often diluted the intensity of the narrative.

In order to avoid this problem, Black Clover might benefit from taking a page out of Bleach's book, specifically regarding the handling of the Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War anime. Immediately following the adaptation of the Fullbring story arc in the anime, Studio Pierrot fully cancelled the Bleach anime in 2012.

While the sudden cancellation saddened the entire Bleach community back in 2012, it eventually proved to be a blessing in disguise. At Jump Festa 2022 in Japan, Studio Pierrot announced that the Bleach anime was finally returning, with the adaptation of the highly anticipated Thousand-Year Blood War arc.

It should also be noted that the Bleach manga officially concluded on August 22, 2016. Therefore, by waiting until the manga concluded, Studio Pierrot was able to deliver a more polished and faithful adaptation that revitalized the entire fanbase. Not only did the animation quality improve drastically, but the pacing also felt right this time around, as fans received an experience that felt worth the decade-long wait.

As such, it's easy to see why Black Clover could benefit from a similar strategy. Although Studio Pierrot has enough material to make a fifth season of the anime, the manga is still currently in its final arc, and rushing the anime's return may risk overtaking the manga. However, that would depend on the anime's episode count, which could realistically lead to filler or incomplete arcs.

Therefore, instead of satisfying fans by preemptively announcing the anime's return, Studio Pierrot should take their time and wait for the manga to end in order to fully realize Yuki Tabata's vision in the anime.

While an announcement of the Black Clover anime's return would undoubtedly revitalize the fanbase once again, it could lead to widespread frustration among viewers if the anime fails to live up to expectations. Letting the manga finish would provide a solid foundation for the anime, ensuring that every aspect of the series is given the time and care it needs.

In conclusion, following the example of Bleach TYBW for the Black Clover anime might be the best possible direction that Studio Pierrot can take for Yuki Tabata's magnum opus. Given how long fans have awaited the anime's return, ensuring that their wait is rewarded with an adaptation that lives up to their expectations would ultimately be the right thing to do for the fans.
