Black Clover is a popular Japanese anime series based on the manga of the same name created by Yūki Tabata. The anime, produced by Pierrot and directed by Tatsuya Yoshihara, takes place in a world where magic is commonplace, focusing on the protagonist Asta, who is unable to use magic in a society where it is highly valued. Asta, along with his friend and rival Yuno, aspires to become the Wizard King, the most powerful mage in the kingdom. Despite Asta's lack of magical ability, he remains determined to achieve his goal.
The series originally aired from October 3, 2017, to March 30, 2021, on TV Tokyo in Japan. Kazuyuki Fudeyasu was responsible for the scriptwriting, Itsuko Takeda designed the characters, and Minako Seki composed the music for the series. The first season, adapting the first eight volumes of the manga, was initially planned for 13 episodes but expanded to 51 episodes. The following seasons also consisted of 51 episodes each.
In addition to the anime series, there are two original video animations (OVAs) based on Black Clover. The first OVA was released in 2016 and bundled with the 11th volume of the manga. The second OVA premiered at the 2018 Jump Festa event.
In February 2021, it was announced that the final episode of "Black Clover" would air on March 30, 2021, and an anime film adaptation was also announced for the series.
