One Piece Vivre Card-Visual Dictionary's latest volume was released on November 1, 2024. The Vivre Card revealed the location of Backbeard's hometown but didn't reveal its exact coordinates. However, given the previous lore developed by the series, the location of his hometown might already be before fans and could be related to one of the Straw Hat Pirates.

In the Drum Island arc, Dalton revealed that the Blackbeard Pirates destroyed the island before the Straw Hat Pirates' arrival. Moreover, Luffy also stated that the people in snowy countries never sleep. All of these points hint that the Shady Port, Teach's hometown, might be present in Drum Island. Moreover, just like Enel, Blackbeard destroyed his home after getting the devil fruit powers.

In the latest Vivre Card of One Piece, it was revealed that Marshall D. Teach (more commonly referred to as Blackbeard) was born on Shady Port 40 years ago. It is a port on an island and is located somewhere on the Grand Line. Before this reveal, there was no mention of this city, adding to the mystery of Blackbeard's hometown.

However, in reality, the exact location of this port city might already be before the fans. Before proving this, let's look at the factors that could contribute to locating Shady Port. All of this started in Drum Island arc where Blackbeard was mentioned by Dalton.

According to Dalton, the Blackbeard Pirates arrived at Drum Island before the Straw Hat Pirates and destroyed the island. This was the reason why the island looked like ruins. Moreover, after arriving at the island, Luffy stated that the people on snowy islands don't sleep (although there is no credibility to this statement).

Surprisingly enough, these properties sit well with the description of Marshall D. Teach. During a conversation between Shanks and Buggy, it was revealed that Blackbeard hardly ever sleeps and that he might be a monster. So, given Luffy's quote and Dalton's words, Blackbeard's hometown—Shady Port—might be located on Drum Island.

Moreover, him destroying "Drum Island" might be him destroying his hometown. After joining the Whitebeard Pirates, Teach continued his search for the Yami-Yami Devil Fruit and eventually killed his teammate to achieve it. After that, he might have returned to his hometown and destroyed it, forming his own pirate crew afterward.

So, while this does make him the destroyer of Chopper's hometown, it also ties him with Enel, the self-proclaimed god of Skypiea, who destroyed his hometown of Birka after getting the Goro-Goro Devil Fruit.

Analysis and final thoughts

While this theory might look credible (which could be given the hints given in One Piece's past), it also gives rise to the question of why antagonists destroy their hometowns after getting powers.

Could it be they try to remove any remains of their birthplaces to remove any signs of their past? Or could it be to displace their loved ones so that the World Government cannot catch them through blackmail?
