Bleach TYBW part 3 continues with this project's running trend of being a massive success with the fans and has also added new things that make fans hopeful for the future. One of those elements that has received a lot of people's attention is the fact that the franchise's first-ever movie, 2006's Memories of Nobody, has now become canon.

The vast majority of the film is centered around Ichigo Kurosaki and Rukia Kuchiki running into a mysterious Shinigami named Senna and strange events taking place in both the human world and Soul Society, leading to a bittersweet conclusion in the movie. Now the most recent information on Bleach TYBW has confirmed that this story is part of the continuity of the anime, much to the delight of the fandom.

The Bleach TYBW anime has now confirmed Memories of Nobody to be canon

In episode 32 of Bleach TYBW, titled The Holy Newborn, it was confirmed that the 2006 film, Memories of Nobody, the first one in the franchise's history, is now part of the canon. This came across as a surprise to a lot of people, especially when it comes to placing the events of this story chronologically, although the overall reception has been fairly positive.

Studio Pierrot has collaborated with the series' author, Tite Kubo, to adapt the final arc of the manga, the Thousand-Year Blood War, and a major factor has been the mangaka's contributions to extend certain plot points and add new content. In that regard, little nuggets of extra information, such as the inclusion of the Memories of Nobody film, make the world of Bleach a lot richer and more vast.

Moreover, this also presents fans with the opportunity for other anime-only elements of the franchise to be included in the canon thanks to Studio Pierrot and Kubo's decisions. There are even some that are likely to generate debates, such as the 2010 Hell Verse film, which introduced the concept of hell, although Kubo offered a different take on that realm in the manga.

Reactions online

This revelation has certainly surprised a lot of people in the fandom, especially those who grew up with the original anime when it was airing and got to watch this film when it came out. It features Ichigo Kurosaki and Rukia Kuchiki meeting an unknown Shinigami known as Senna and a lot of strange events begin to take place within the human world and the Soul Society, kickstarting the events of the film.

When it comes to placing it in the chronology of the series, most fans have interpreted that this film happens after Rukia's return to the living world during the Arrancar arc but before the first arrival of the sixth Espada, Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez. It would be the best moment for these events to take place without breaking a sense of continuity with the series.

"I'm excited to see how the movie ties into the overall storyline and enhances our understanding of the characters," someone said.
"I watch the movie and I knew it was canon memories of nobody it's still special bleach movie I still love," another person said.
"Kubo specifically stated that the movies should enjoyed as parallel stories. Characters and events may be referenced in canon, but it just means they happened but not in the way it was depicted in the movies," someone else said.

Some fans also wondered how the film's events are added to the overarching narrative of the series. There were some comments regarding how the general basis of the movie is part of the series' canon but perhaps not happening in the same way people saw it happen in the film.

"W movie too, I wonder if he remembers who he met there since she disappeared from existence, or does he just know he's been there and can't remember why," someone said.
"I wouldn’t say that. It’s moreso they took a concept introduced in the movie and implemented it into the 'canon', not necessarily the movie itself being canon in its entirety," another person said.

It is another success story for Bleach TYBW and a nice moment for fans of the Memories of Nobody film.
