The episode begins with Mayuri Kurotsuchi's modified Konjiki Ashisogi Jizo being blown to pieces. Elsewhere, Kisuke, Shunsui, and others observe the fluctuation in Mayuri's Spiritual Pressure, but Kisuke remains undaunted because he has faith in Mayuri. Meanwhile, Lille Barro targets Shunsui's group, as he feels they are frightened.
On the other side, Shunsui feels it's time to counterattack. As he stops midway, Lille Barro's attack pierces his chest. Just then, the Sternritter hears a chant being performed. Suddenly, Shunsui appears behind him. The Captain Commander reveals it's his move called Daruma San Ga Koronda.
Besides Shunsui, Nanao appears at the scene. However, Shunsui tells her to go away since it's dangerous. When she doesn't listen, the Captain Commander requests her to go and tell others to proceed without them. After that, Shunsui explains the rules of Daruma San Ga Koronda and how he could evade Lille Barro's attack.
The Sternritter realizes the rules are the same as the Chocolate Ingles game. The episode reveals how Shunsui followed a trail left by Lille's Spiritual Pressure to catch him off guard. Following that, the episode showcases an enticing battle, where Shunsui Kyoraku demonstrates a wide range of his Shikai abilities.
He uses a combination of Daruma San Ga Koronda and Kageoni, followed by a new move called Kage Okuri. Eventually, Lille Barro opens his sealed eye a third time, which lets him use the quintessence of The X-Axis' power.
With both his eyes open, Shunsui's sword attacks are rendered useless, as they penetrate the Sternritter's body without causing him any harm. At that moment, Lille Barro activates his Vollstandig form, Jiliel, and gravely wounds Kyoraku.
The Captain Commander retreats to a building far away. When Lille Barro follows him there via teleportation, Shunsui uses Hado 78: Zangerin, a Kido blade. However, even that fails against the Messenger of God. Wounded, Shunsui wonders whether everyone is far away.
He apologizes to Nanao, in case she gets caught up in his move, as he activates his Bankai, Katen Kyokotsu: Karamatsu Shinju. Elsewhere, Ichigo and Askin, engaged in a battle, feel the morbid Spiritual Pressure of Shunsui.
The Captain Commander then demonstrates the acts of his Bankai to turn the tide of the battle against Lille Barro. Ahead of performing the final act in the deep waters, Shunsui's Zanpakuto Spirit, Katen, appears.
Soon after, Shunsui demonstrates the final act, Itokiribasami Chizome no Nodobue, to cut and blow off Lille Barro's head. The episode ends with Shunsui falling on Katen/Ohana's lap after coughing blood. The Zanpakuto spirit is glad Shunsui has won.
