With the release of Bleach TYBW part 3 episode 11, the anime finally showcased the remainder of the fight between Shusui Kyoraku and Lille Barro. The anime episode pretty much features a one-to-one adaptation of the manga with some rearrangement of scenes and original content.

The anime episode saw Shunsui Kyoraku struggle against Lille Barro when Nanao Ise came to his help. During their exchange, Shunsui unveiled his relationship with Nanao's mother and the promise she kept with her. The episode ended with Nanao and Shunsui defeating the Sternritter using the Shinken Hakkyōken.

Pierrot Films rearranged Shunsui's flashback scenes

As Bleach manga readers would have noticed, there were several changes in the chronology of events in the anime. Firstly, despite the episode adapting from chapters 649 to 654, it opened with a flashback scene from chapter 653.

This did not serve a particular purpose other than to help fans realize that Shunsui Kyoraku had an older brother and that his sister-in-law looked like Nanao. That said, this might have built up some intrigue as fans may have started deducing the woman's identity from the get-go, wanting to know more.

However, that wasn't the only flashback scene that was rearranged as events from chapter 651 were also switched around to form a nice parallel between Nanao and her mother.

Surprisingly, it worked better in the anime than in the manga. This is because, in the manga, it was revealed much later as to who Shunsui first heard when Nanao called out to her. As for the anime, fans had a good idea that the first voice Shunsui heard was that of his sister-in-law.

Pierrot Films added some original scenes to flesh out the past

As seen in the anime, while Pierrot Films remained very true to the source material, the animation studio also added some original scenes to expand the flashback scenes.

As fans may remember, the Bleach TYBW anime showed some scenes depicting the Ise clan rituals. However, in the manga, the illustrations only showed some glimpses of it. Therefore, with the anime-original scene, the animation studio may have wanted to give fans a better idea about the Ise clan.

The Zanpakuto was inherited by a single head of the clan from generation to generation but the ritual for the same was never shown in the manga.

Another anime-original scene that was added by Pierrot Films was that of young Nanao Ise. While the manga explained that Nanao did not use a Zanpakuto but was instead skilled in kido, it did not show it. The same was shown in the anime with an original scene.
