Bleach TYBW part 3 episode 3 recap
The episode began with Jushiro Ukitake telling everyone in the Research Lab that he intended to replace the Soul King. Soon after that, the 13th Division Captain removed his robes and initiated a ritual to invoke the local god Mimihagi's powers within him. The episode then delved into a flashback, showcasing how Mimihagi once saved Jushiro's life.
The boy was born with a rare lung disease, so his parents went to the Mimihagi's shrine in Rukon District and prayed to bless their son. Eventually, the deity heard their voices and stagnated the boy's illness.
Besides that, the episode featured other scenes from Jushiro's past, such as how he became friends with Shunsui at the Soul Reaper's academy, and how he voiced against having a new lieutenant after Kaien's death.
After a series of flashbacks, the episode returned to Jushiro completing his ritual. The Soul Reaper Captain sacrificed his organs and body to Mimihagi and became the embodiment of the Soul King's Right Arm. Suddenly, a black arm extended from Jushiro's orifices and shot upward to the Royal Palace.
Yhwach, who was engaged in a battle against Ichigo and others saw the dark arm embrace the severed Soul King and momentarily halt the realms' destruction. Interestingly, the Quincy King's Almighty eyes couldn't predict the event. Elsewhere, Shunsui Kyoraku went to Muken and released three seals from Sosuke Aizen.
Shunsui wondered whether Aizen would like to enjoy some fresh air of the Soul Society. He assured Aizen that he didn't want him to fight for the Soul Reapers and the Soul Society. Rather, he thought their interests had aligned. The episode ended with Aizen contemplating breathing the air of the Soul Society that was about to be crushed by Yhwach.
