Bleach TYBW part 3 episode 8 recap

The episode begins with Lille Barro surveying Uryu Ishida's battle against Renji from afar. Meanwhile, Mayuri and Zaraki's group confront Pernida Parnkgjas. Zaraki charges at his enemy without thinking twice. Although Mayuri shouts at him to stop, Pernida's powers catch him and render his right arm useless.

Suddenly, Zaraki notices his fractured arm twisting on its own. As soon as he cuts it off, the arm reduces to a pool of blood. Zaraki wonders what sort of ability the being before him possesses. He decides to cut down Pernida and charges at it again. This time, Pernida's ability completely overpowers Zaraki.

Just then, Mayuri stabs Zaraki and paralyzes his nerves. Since Zaraki doesn't turn into a meatball like his fractured arm, Mayuri realizes Pernida's powers must be its nerves, which enter the enemy and control their movements. Mayuri is overjoyed to find a worthy opponent, whom he wants to make his test subject.

The Soul Reaper Captain's taunts irritate Pernida, who reveals his true form. The episode reveals that Pernida is actually the Left Arm of the Soul King. Having said that, he prefers to be called Pernida. As the battle begins, Mayuri demonstrates a wide range of abilities against Pernida.

However, the Sternritter piques Mayuri's curiosity even more when it uses its nerves to control inanimate objects. Elsewhere in Wahrwelt, Liltotto tells Bazz B to go and settle his score with Haschwalth, while she and Giselle will handle Yhwach. Soon after that, the narrative returns to Mayuri's battle against Pernida.

The 12th Division Captain uses one of his test subjects to cut off Pernida's finger. However, that finger retains the original Pernida's powers and almost twists Mayuri's hand. The Soul Reaper Captain recalls reading a book, where it was stated that the Soul King's Right Arm controlled Stillness, while the Left Arm reigned over advancement.

Following that, Mayuri activated his new Bankai, Konjiki Ashisogi Jizo: Matai Fukuin Shotai, which gave birth to a modified Konjiki Ashisogi Jizo, according to the intel Mayuri sent to it. This new Ashisogi Jizo had its nerves on the surface of its body, divided into 70,000 layers.

In other words, even if Pernida fired its nerves onto it, it would only peel off one outer layer. The episode ends with Mayuri's new Konjiki Ashisogi Jizo devouring Pernida.
