With the premiere of Bleach TYBW - The Conflict, the Tite Kubo anime finally returned after airing its second part in the Summer 2023 anime season. At the same time, fans were excited about this return but were met with something unexpected.

After a long wait of over a year, Pierrot Films slapped fans with a long recap from the previous part's finale. While they were a bit disappointed, fans later deduced that the recap was intentionally put in to set up something huge.

As fans may remember, manga creator Tite Kubo greatly correlated the number "9" with Yhwach. Surprisingly, evidence suggests that the recap had also been added for the same measure.

As fans might remember from the events that took place at the start of Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War, after being sealed away, it took the Father of the Quincy, Yhwach, 900 years to get his heart beating again and 90 years to regain his mind. Additionally, it took him nine years to regain his powers.

This meant that the Quincy King could not use his Schrift A - The Almighty before the nine years were up. The same was evident from the confrontation between Yhwach and Squad 0 leader Ichibe Hyosube, as Yhwach was left stunned by Ichibe's attack with no way to counter it.

Wandenreich's Sternritter Grandmaster Jugram Haschwalth then revealed in a monologue that the Quincy King usually kept his eyes shut while fighting someone. This was not because he underestimated his enemies, but he did so to keep his power in control. Seemingly, his powers would have gone out of control if he used them before he regained them entirely.

However, with nine years to regain his powers finally complete, the Quincy King was finally able to open his eyes. The same was seen in Bleach TYBW as Yhwach regained his power and used it against the Squad 0 leader. This scene was set up by a recap, depicting events from the ending of the anime's previous part.

While fans must have been left annoyed by the recap, it allowed Pierrot Films to have Yhwach reveal his Schrift A - The Almighty right at the nine-minute mark of the episode. This was not noticeable to the fans as they believed the studio was simply trying to cut down the episode's runtime.

Instead, they were actually trying to have Yhwach say "Almighty" at the ninth minute. For this, fans will need to ignore the opening theme song and the introduction of the VIZ Media logo. This made it very clear how much the staff cared about the series and ensured the antagonist regained his powers exactly at the ninth minute to depict nine years.
