Following the events of episode 4, Blue Exorcist season 4 episode 5 places Shura with Hachiroto as he drags her to the bottom of the lake. The scene cuts back to Shura's past throughout her childhood. Young Shura was assigned to be looked after by Shiro after Mephisto stated that the orphanage did not have a place for her at the time.

She lived happily under Shiro's care following him around everywhere until she was finally let go to the orphanage. As she grew older Young Shura felt abandoned and started acting out to gain Shiro's attention. She was particularly angry at him for deciding to raise Rin and Yukio when he chose to give her away to an orphanage.

In the present, Rin uses Satan's flames to explode several of the Dragon God's heads. However, Hachiroto's regenerative abilities proved too much for Rin to handle alone. Shima was taken out as quickly as he tried to make a move, leaving Yukio vulnerable.

Hachiro gets a hold of Yukio and begins to strangle the life out of him. Hearing his screams and feeling his agony, Shura recalls her memories of him with Shiro. With sudden slashes of her sword, Shura breaks free and releases Yukio from Hachiroto's grasp.

With Shura's assistance and guidance, Rin manages to maximize the output of his flames, essentially burning the Dragon God to a crisp. But, seeing how he is an immortal being, Hachiroto was shrunken down to the size of a normal snake, with almost all of his powers depleted.

Following their victory, Shura, Rin, and Yukio share heartfelt moments of embrace. Soon after, they were discovered by the backup team who were sent along with Shima. After tending to their wounds, Yukio was advised to visit the hospital as he suffered grave injuries.

The feeling of weakness loomed over Yukio since he found himself constantly at the mercy of his allies, especially Rin. Shima, who's been spying on Yukio reminded him of the Illuminati's offer to help him unlock his powers, which may or may not have been a joke.

Yukio falls unconscious before uttering a word and proceeds to wake up in the True Cross General Hospital where he is advised a bedrest of two months along with rehab. The episode ends by presenting a frustrated Yukio on the verge of possibly making a decision that he may come to regret.
