Recap from the previous episode
The previous episode starts with Rin Okumura arriving at Kyoto forty years in the past, and the first thing he witnesses is a young Shiro Fujimoto on one of the rooftops of the city. He then encounters Mephisto, who reveals that he is the one from this era but is aware of events that take place in the future. Therefore, he knows why he is here and takes him to the place where a young Yuri Egin is.
The protagonist gets to see Yuri with her grandmother and Oku, two former Exorcists who are going through hard times by living on the streets. Mephisto fast forwards a couple of times to see Yuri's first couple of interactions with Satan prior to the latter becoming sentient and how he burned the place where Oku and the grandmother were, leaving Rin's mother as an orphan.
The second part of the episode shows how Yuri meets Shiro long before his days as Father Fujimoto because the former found the latter's hideout. They are eventually found by the Exorcists and are taken to the Exorcist Academy, then known as the Asylum, to train them. The episode ends with a cliffhanger of Shiro meeting with the Mephisto of that era.
What to expect from Blue Exorcist: The Blue Night Saga episode 2?
Blue Exorcist: The Blue Night Saga episode 2 is probably going to focus heavily on Shiro Fujimoto's encounter with Mephisto and the consequences of this event. Moreover, Rin is going to continue his travel through the past and see different situations that lead to the fateful Blue Night.
There is also a chance for an explanation of how the Asylum became the Exorcist Academy, perhaps through Shiro's talk with Mephisto.
