With the release of Blue Lock chapter 269, the manga series saw Yoichi Isagi planning to restrain Michael Kaiser's movements. While his plan seemed like it was working, he did not account for Rin Itoshi to evolve further, causing his plan to fail.

The previous chapter saw the Ubers reacting to Kaiser's supergoal as Shoei Barou wished to see how Isagi would react to it. Paris X Gen was in tatters as they were unable to stop Isagi and Kaiser. Just then, Rin realized what he needed to stop Isagi.

Blue Lock chapter 269, titled 'Not Only,' opened with the match-up between the first and second-ranked players from Blue Lock. Yoichi Isagi successfully moved the ball away from Rin when Nanase Nijiro arrived to help him. Just as Isagi was about to get sandwiched, he passed the ball to Kurona Ranze, who passed it back to him in a one-two pass. This move helped Isagi get away from Rin and Nanase.

With that move, Isagi was certain that he had grasped the crux of Rin's movements, thus he no longer considered him a threat. The field was centered on him. While he had yet to figure out how to deal with Ryusei Shidou, Kunigami Rensuke marking him effectively made his system with Tabito Karasu and Zantetsu Tsurugi useless.

As a result, the only player who could effectively surpass Isagi was Michael Kaiser. Even though it's highly improbable for the German striker to recreate his supergoal, Paris X Gen could not deal with them simultaneously. If the opponents were to focus on one of them, the other one would score. Thus, Bastard Munchen was now burning the brightest.

Blue Lock chapter 269 then switched to Rin Itoshi as he wished to outclass Isagi. He knew that he had become a better player after playing in the Neo Egoist League. However, he had yet to attain what he was lacking, i.e., control over his flow state. The only way he could activate it was if he faced a player who could torment him, and Yoichi Isagi fit the bill perfectly.

Blue Lock chapter 269 then switched to Isagi as he wished to stop Kaiser. The German striker was running in Isagi's shadows, allowing him to move freely. Hence, Isagi dribbled the ball toward Kaiser, exposing his position to everyone. He then passed the ball to Hiori Yo, forcing Kaiser to make the first move.

The moment Kaiser began making his run, Isagi succeeded at tricking him as he could now run through Kaiser's shadow. Right after, Kurona Ranze was set to pass the ball to Isagi. However, just then, Rin Itoshi, in his flow state, stole the ball away from him. With this, Isagi realized that he hadn't evaluated Rin Itoshi properly.
