With the release of Blue Lock chapter 278, the manga saw Igarashi Gurimu receive his time in the limelight as his weapon helped stop Rin Itoshi. Following that, the manga immediately switched to Bastard Munchen's attack. However, unlike what Isagi believed, Noa did not support him but was using him as a stepping stone to make Kaiser a better player.
The previous chapter saw Isagi and Noel Noa initiate an attack. Unfortunately, Julian Loki managed to easily steal the ball away from Isagi. Right after this, the French forward combined forces with Rin for a goalscoring opportunity. Just when it seemed like Paris X Gen was about to win the match, Igarashi stopped Rin with his malicia.

Blue Lock chapter 278: Noel Noa uses Yoichi Isagi as a decoy
Blue Lock chapter 278 opened with the world cheering for Igarashi Gurimu as the substitute managed to draw a foul from Rin Itoshi the moment he stepped onto the field using his malicia. Raichi Jingo and Gagamaru Gin immediately ran to him to praise him. Just then, Igarashi revealed that Noa had instructed him to draw a foul from Rin using his rough tackle against him.
Noel Noa had kept an eye on Igarashi's efforts and had seemingly acknowledged his malicia weapon. With that in mind, Noa asked Igarashi to keep up the good work and keep drawing fouls from Rin and other Paris X Gen players by keeping a cool head.
Blue Lock chapter 278 then saw Julian Loki taunting Rin Itoshi over his failure to bypass Igarashi Gurimu. But Rin now wished to destroy the right-back as well. Right after, as the match resumed, Igarashi passed the ball to Noel Noa, who asked the Bastard Munchen players to join him in his attack.
Just then, Ryusei Shidou and Charles Chevalier arrived to sandwich Noa. However, Noa managed to bypass them with a clever one-two pass with Michael Kaiser. Seeing this opportunity, Isagi tried to join them in the attack. However, instead of passing the ball to Isagi, Noa used him as a decoy to get the ball to Kaiser.
Noel Noa then revealed how he hadn't joined the Neo Egoist League for Bastard Munchen but to awaken Kaiser's ego. He wanted a rival that could threaten him; hence, he wished to help Kaiser evolve further. Moments later, seeing the growing threat of Bastard Munchen's attack, Aoshi Tokimitsu fouled Noel Noa, drawing a yellow card.
Upon winning this freekick, the Master Striker handed the goalscoring opportunity to Michael Kaiser as his Kaiser Impact was the perfect weapon for such an opportunity. As for Isagi, he was left furious to realize that he was being used as a stepping stone for both Rin and Kaiser's evolution. With that in mind, Isagi decided to not let anyone interfere in his path to becoming the world's best.
