With the release of Blue Lock chapter 288 part 2, the manga saw Yukimiya Kenyu continue Bastard Munchen's attack. Amidst this, Yoichi Isagi managed to create a goalscoring opportunity for himself. Unfortunately, Alexis Ness's fixation saw Tabito Karasu stop the attack.

The previous manga chapter saw Yukimiya Kenyu sub for Igarashi Gurimu as a left midfielder. His introduction bolstered Bastard Munchen's attack as Yukimiya coordinated well with Isagi and Kaiser. However, just as Karasu tried intercepting a pass from Yukimiya, the left midfielder used Isagi as bait to charge towards the goal.

Blue Lock chapter 288 part 2, titled Death Game (Part 2), picked up right from where the previous manga chapter ended as Yukimiya Kenyu used Isagi to dribble past Tabito Karasu. However, Isagi wasn't furious at this development. He never wanted a change that would bring stability on the battlefield but one that would create chaos.

With Yukimiya himself being a genius, Isagi hoped to adapt to his abilities and upgrade his abilities. However, Yukimiya did not want this to happen. He wanted to beat Isagi at any cost. This was the ego the protagonist had taught him. With that, the manga saw Yukimiya dribbling past Paris X Gen defenders and placing a shot from a tight angle. Unfortunately, Charles Chevalier blocked the shot by using his meta vision.

However, Isagi had predicted this development. He knew there was a 50-50 chance that the shot would be blocked. Hence, he recovered the free ball. With the goal nearly 35 meters away, Isagi could not use his direct shot. Thus, he passed the ball to Alexis Ness, hoping to perform a one-two with him.

Unfortunately, Ness's priorities were set somewhere else. Instead of immediately passing the ball back to Isagi, Ness was busy looking for Kaiser, hoping to force a pass to him. This decision effectively granted Tabito Karasu sufficient time to reach Ness and lunge in with a sliding tackle, kicking the ball out of play.

Having witnessed Alexis Ness make the grave error, Yukimiya was reminded of his old self. Ness was too fixated on what he wanted to believe in, hence he wasn't able to keep up with his environment. Anyone who couldn't keep up with the speed of evolution created by Isagi and Kaiser was bound to fall behind. This is exactly what happened with Ness.

While Yoichi Isagi considered Alexis Ness to be useless, Michael Kaiser asked his former partner to quit playing football. With the two aces having increased the game's level, any player who could not keep up was naturally weeded out in the death game.
