From November 3 to November 10, 2024, the Blue Lock manga authors attended a special exhibition at the famous Shibuya Tsutaya book store to commemorate the Blue Lock VS. U-20 JAPAN anime sequel. This exhibition allowed fans to buy official merchandise and included an autograph session with the authors, who also answered some burning questions from the fandom.

On the third day of the special exhibition, both authors opened up about some players of the Blue Lock manga series and provided hints about future events that fans should anticipate. One such event would be the teaming of Isagi Yoichi and Itoshi Sae in a match. While details about this match weren't revealed, the event thrilled the fandom.

Blue Lock manga's Isagi and Sae team up hinted at the Shibuya Tsutaya Special Exhibition

The authors of Blue Lock manga, Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yuusuke Nomura, were featured in the recent Shibuya Tsutaya Special Exhibition on its third day. During this exhibition, the authors answered some questions from the fandom and also gave some hints about future events.

The exhibition included some information about players like Meguru Bachira, Isagi Yoichi, and the Itoshi brothers, along with their future involvement in the plotline of the series. However, the spotlight of the event came when a fan asked Muneyuki Kaneshiro whether Isagi and Sae would team up in the future.

Surprisingly, the author seemingly confirmed that this collaboration would happen in the future and encouraged fans to look forward to it. Itoshi Sae is the older brother of Itoshi Rin and is a key player of Japan's U-20 football team in Blue Lock season 2. Isagi Yoichi is the main protagonist of the Blue Lock manga series.

After Blue Lock season 2, Itoshi Sae disappears from the spotlight after losing against Team Blue Lock. This had the fandom worried about whether he would return to the spotlight, and with the recent confirmation from the author, Sae would indeed return in the future and team up with the genius Isagi Yoichi in a match.

Some more information about Itoshi Sae

Although the panel wasn't specifically focused on Itoshi Sae, he soon became the spotlight of the exhibition. The writer, Muneyuki Kaneshiro, revealed that Sae styles his hair using hair spray instead of wax because he isn't fond of getting his hands dirty. The author also shed light on the relationship between the Itoshi brothers.

According to the author, Sae doesn't see his relationship with Rin as one that involves fighting but only sees Rin as an annoying sibling. He described both Itoshi siblings as twisted and hinted to make Sae more twisted in the future.

Muneyuki Kaneshiro added that the Itoshi siblings never fought during their childhood, which prompted the series' illustrator, Yuusuke Nomura, to mention that this was the reason why he drew them cute in their childhood (because they were innocent).

Lastly, the series' illustrator had a hard time drawing Sae on autographs because the last time he drew the character was years ago, during the Blue Lock vs U-20 Japan arc.

Final thoughts

The match where Itoshi Sae and Isagi Yoichi would team up in the future for Japan's national team is highly anticipated, especially since the former is already a part of the team. After the Neo Egoist League, Isagi might also join the national team due to his talent.

However, it might also be a friendly match or exhibition match if the author decided to keep things softcore and not go out of his way. All-in-all, the teaming of two of the strongest football players in the Blue Lock manga series is something every fan should anticipate.
