Blue Lock season 2 is in full swing, but things aren’t going well for the anime series. Fans were eagerly waiting for the second season’s release after an entertaining season 1. The animation studio managed to capture the audience’s attention with an interesting plot and gripping match sequences.
However, the second season failed to hold onto the momentum that the previous season worked hard to generate. Suffice it to say, the entire fanbase is disappointed with how Studio 8Bt handled the second season.
The internet is filled with memes stating that the second season looks like a slideshow presentation. A series with a budget like Blue Lock should certainly put out better content. Studio 8Bit needs to act quickly because they have done great disservice to the fans of the animanga title.
How is Studio 8Bit ruining Blue Lock season 2?
As revealed by one animator who worked on the project, Studio 8Bit is allegedly guilty of mismanaging this project. The production team took this project on and paid the animators minimum wages. To make things worse, the animators didn’t receive much time to put in quality work as well. Therefore, the quality of Blue Lock season 2 has dropped quite drastically this season. The animation is bad enough that netizens compared the anime to a slideshow presentation.
Furthermore, the second season was a massive topic of conversation because of the content that was going to be covered. The second season will be adapting the U-20 arc. This is considered to be among the best story arcs in the entire series. Manga readers found this to be exceptionally entertaining because of the star-studded lineup. This story arc features an intense match between the selected Blue Lock 11 versus the Japan U-20 team. However, Ryusei Shido is asked to play for Japan U-20, and this team is led by the prodigy, Sae Itoshi.
Given how the animation is in its current state, Studio 8Bit has done a great disservice to fans. The animation studio became quite popular because of this series, and it’s sad to see that this project is not being handled with the level of attention that the first season received. The online community is fuming with how the animation is being handled. Furthermore, the anime industry has a looming issue since production houses are taking up projects solely with the intention of profiting from them.
The animation studio did a decent job with the colors. The color palette seen when players’ auras were animated deserved praise. However, that was the only element that could be appreciated in the entirety of the second season so far.
Conclusion
The anime industry needs to change as a whole because production teams need to treat projects with utmost love and attention. Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 suffered from a similar problem because MAPPA also forced animators to work in extremely poor conditions, with very little pay and little to no time to animate.
Studio 8Bit seems to be following MAPPA’s footsteps, and it is clearly affecting the anime series. The second season can still be salvaged since it is in the nascent stages. However, the animation studio has to act quickly if they wish to turn things around.
Stay tuned for more anime and manga news as 2024 progresses.
