As fans must remember, the anime's first season ended with the Second Selection Arc. Just as the remaining 35 players of the Blue Lock program were revealed, Ego Jinpachi made a huge announcement. Blue Lock was set to face off against the Japan U-20 team led by Itoshi Sae to determine the future of the Japan Football Union.

If Blue Lock Eleven were to face defeat, the program would get shut down. But if they were to win, they would win the right to represent Japan and take over the U-20 team.

With that in mind, Ego Jinpachi needs to select a team out of the 35 strikers that could help them win the decisive match. Hence, the upcoming season 2 premiere will most likely see Ego explain the selection process for the starting eleven players as part of the Third Selection Tryouts.

Moreover, the anime could also explain why Rin Itoshi, Ryusei Shidou, Tabito Karasu, Otoya Eita, Yukimiya Kenyu, and Seishiro Nagi were picked as the top 6 players after Blue Lock's Second Selection.
