Blue Lock season 2 episode 7, titled Itoshi Sae, premiered on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at 11:30 pm JST. With the anime showing no real change in animation quality after the switch to the match between Blue Lock XI and Japan U-20, fans were left hopeless about the anime. However, one particular scene gave fans hope for better production in the anime's future episodes.
Unlike the previous episode which had a lot of anime original scenes, the new episode basically animated scenes from the manga panel to panel. Fortunately, there was a silver lining as Seishiro Nagi's goal scene looked more beautiful than what anyone could have imagined after watching the previous episodes.
Blue Lock season 2 episode 7 review: 8bit ruins Japan U-20 defenders introduction with special effects
As seen in Blue Lock season 2 episode 7, after Oliver Aiku's introduction in the previous episode, it was time for the anime to introduce fans to the other defenders. Unfortunately, the scenes for the same looked too wacky. While they were not entirely terrible, there was too much going on.
With the introduction of each Japan U-20 defender, the anime added several special effects to make it seem like the anime's staff had put in special effort to animate the scenes. Instead, the scenes looked too silly. This is because each cut had different special effects, leading to no seamlessness in the same scene.
In one scene, the characters had too much shadow on them, while in another, they had different colored aura emerging from them. Not to mention the sparks of lightning when a defender tackled and the motionlessness of some background characters. Overall, the episode was pretty shabby to watch until the "big scene" arrived.
Seishiro Nagi's goal leaves fans hopeful of better animation in upcoming episodes
As seen in Blue Lock season 2 episode 7, the animation was pretty dull and shabby in most parts of the episode. But surprisingly 8bit did justice to Seishiro Nagi's goal scene. The animation staff made use of perfect CG animation to showcase Nagi's ball control, following which his tap ball lift and jumping spin kick received perfect 2D animation.
With that goal, not only did Seishiro Nagi shock Japan but 8bit shocked the anime's fans. The fans never expected such good quality animation after the lackluster production they had witnessed till now. Hence, many fans have become hopeful that the production of the rest of the anime will be better than what they have witnessed till now.
Final thoughts on Blue Lock season 2 episode 7
While fans are hopeful for better production in the anime's future episodes, there is no way to confirm the same. There is a very likely chance that the anime's climax could have good production quality but the same cannot be said for the rest of the episodes. Given what 8bit has showcased till now, it would be best to assume that only the most major scenes would receive high-quality production.
