While Blue Lock season 2 had a decent start last week, the anime's latest episode was a disappointment, to say the least. After the release of the anime's second promotional video, fans knew they would be subjected to poor animation. Needless to say, their suspicions were proved correct with Blue Lock season 2 episode 2.
With such poor animation, the anime is on a fast track to becoming the biggest disappointment among all the Fall 2024 anime. The worst part about the situation is that fans can accept some poor animation if it means the production focuses the funds elsewhere. However, for now, there is no way to confirm this, leaving fans worried about the U-20 Arc adaptation.
What is wrong with Blue Lock season 2?
As previewed in the anime's promotional video, it is set to be a tricky road for the Blue Lock fans, as the animation is seemingly set to be subpar. Up until now, the anime has only shared clips from the first two episodes. While the first episode featured decent animation, the second episode fell short in terms of quality.
The anime had some frames that looked really good due to the splash of colors and effects thrown into the frames. However, as far as the animation is concerned, the episode looked like a PowerPoint presentation with its peculiar transitions. Even the character's movements looked odd as the players were only panned across the screen to depict action.
As fans would be aware, anime fans often dislike CG animation. However, that was not the case for the latest episode because, as per fans, the best animated sequences were the ones that used CG in them. This depicts how poor the animation quality was in the anime.
Fans reacted to the animation quality in Blue Lock season 2
Fans were left furious and disappointed, as they loved the series but were forced to see it get butchered by animation studio 8bit. Fans could not believe the drop in animation quality compared to the first season and compared it to several other "not-so-popular series" and how even they got better treatment in production.
However, amongst such comments, what fans feared the most was a poor adaptation of the manga's U-20 Arc. Blue Lock's U-20 Arc was arguably one of the best sports manga story arcs. But with the animation seen in the series, fans were only left worried about its impending poor-quality adaptation.
"IM BEGGING SOMEONE TO END ME. THIS CANT BE MY SERIES," one fan said.
"Blue Lock vs U20 is setting up to be the biggest disappointment in modern anime," another fan said.
"Tower of god and Uzumaki fans watching Blue lock get butchered," other fan said.
"Record of ragnarok and Blue lock before anime era was sick. I remember feeling the adrenaline rush reading it and every time. Undeserved adaptation," another added.
Other fans started comparing the animation quality to those before that were heavily trolled online due to their production quality. This included Tower of God and Uzumaki, which were initially animated well but later dropped its production quality, and Record of Ragnarok, the adaptation for which was poor from the beginning.
