Bogus Skill "Fruitmaster" episode 1, titled The Only Ingredient, opened by introducing fans to the main characters Light and Lena as the two childhood friends were headed to eat their skill fruits, hoping to become adventurers together.

During the ceremony, it was informed to them, that while a skill fruit grants a person a skill, there was no guarantee what skill they would be granted. On top of that, one cannot eat a second skill fruit as it would mean certain death. Knowing this, both Lena and Light consumed their skill fruits.

While Lena was granted the Sword Saint skill, Light was granted the Fruitmaster skill. This event effectively separated Lena and Light's paths as Lena was to become an adventurer while Light was to become a fruit farmer.

After three months, Lena had become an S-ranked adventurer while Light became a fruit farmer. While he harvested fruits and sold them, he also trained to become strong so that he could one day become an adventurer and stand next to Lena.

This is when the anime introduced fans to another character called Ayla. She was a girl that the village chief pushed on him. Since then, she lived with Light and helped him with chores.

Ayla had come to invite Light for dinner that she had prepared for them. Unbeknownst to Light, Ayla mistakenly used skill fruits to prepare the stew. This meant that both Light and Ayla had consumed skill fruits.

For Ayla, this meant that she would receive a skill, but in Light's case, it meant certain death. Surprisingly, Light was alright. In fact, as per Ayla's new Appraisal skill, Light's fruitmaster skill made him immune to the poison of all fruits. With that, he attained a second skill called Sword God.

Soon after, there was a commotion within the Adventurers Guild as the S-Rank Party Sacred had returned with its star Lena. Light approached Lena to speak to her. But surprisingly, Lena behaved as if she did not recognize Light.
