The latest chapter of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex was shocking, to say the least, leaving fans in disbelief at its events. With Boruto Uzumaki appearing to protect Sarada Uchiha from Hidari, a ray of hope was visible for the Leaf Shinobi. However, with the way the chapter ended, that was quickly extinguished.

Specifically, what was surprising was that Kawaki's "status changed" from Otsutsuki Killer to Otsutsuki Fodder. This yielded a huge gasp from the fandom, considering that Kawaki attempted to do away with any danger threatening Naruto and Hinata.

Boruto: Two Blue Vortex: Jura targets Kawaki labeling him as "Otsutsuki fodder"

Chapter 12 starts with Boruto arriving at the scene after rescuing Himawari from Jura. The latter, having awakened the Nine Tails' power, was showing great promise in battle, but it being new to her worked to Jura's advantage as he began to overpower her. After realizing the weight of the situation, the blonde decided to fight on a united front.

Thus, he brought Himawari to Sarada's location, where he went toe-to-toe against Hidari. Thanks to a powerful Rasengan: Uzuhiko, Hidari was dispatched and turned into a Thorn Soul Bulb. But there wasn't a minute to recover. Jura, levitating and watching from above, struck down the blonde and then Sarada before retrieving his fallen comrade.

In the end, he decided that the former knew too much, given that Boruto knew about the Thorn Soul Bulb. Moreover, he now set his sights on Kawaki, concluding that he would serve as Otsutsuki fuel instead of presumably Naruto, who was Jura's original target.

Fans showcase skepticism for being Kawaki becoming "Otsutsuki fodder"

The chapter ends when Jura calls Kawaki "Otsutsuki fodder." To shed some light on this, the former's original target was Naruto. However, given how the situation developed, Jura probably felt that Kawaki could also serve as fuel, considering that he had Otsutsuki blood in him. Such a label is what didn't sit well with the Boruto fandom.

"Fodderwaki" - a user commented.

One section of fans joked about the whole incident, incorporating the word "fodder" into Kawaki's name. It took people by surprise, but then again, when looked at carefully, Kawaki hasn't been able to do much against the Self-Aware God Trees.

"To Jura he is fodder" - a netizen posted.

Another netizen posted that Kawaki was nothing but fuel in Jura's view. His being part of Otsutsuki was what was keeping him in this fight. Otherwise, these beings would be too strong for ordinary shinobi to handle. Moreover, his Otsutsuki-ness might be what Jura recognized and sought to target henceforth.

"He just cooked kawaki extremely hard ngl" - a Boruto fan opined.

A part of the fandom found comedic relief at this moment, pointing out in internet slang that Jura had "cooked" Kawaki. There might be some sense to this, as Jura and Kawaki are surely aware of the difference in power between them. The latter was only able to finish Hidari because Uzuhiko succeeded.

"Fodder as in bait or a fruit of some sort" - an X user posted.

Some fans were of the opinion that Jura was not insulting Kawaki but rather referring to him as an alternative. By fodder, Jura could mean bait or even fruit. Fans will remember that Otsutsuki had an obsession with Chakra Fruits, which made them stronger. So here, since Naruto was out of reach, Kawaki was the next best option, coupled with his Otsutsuki blood.

"He’s right tbf Boruto in a different league rn" - a cybercitizen wrote.

Lastly, fans rightly pointed out that Jura was correct in targeting Kawaki. Boruto was indeed in a different league altogether at the moment. Previously, he had done short work for Kawaki, and presently, he looks like the only one capable of standing up to the God Trees. But Kawaki, on the other hand, hadn't reached such a level yet.
