Boruto fans fail to comprehend Hinata's contribution to her son's skills and it's saddening

As any fan would know, unlike the Boruto manga, the anime series is quite extensive to the point that it adapted several light novels and side stories. Nevertheless, the anime series never truly depicted Hinata Hyuga's contribution to her son's skills and academics.

Unlike Naruto Uzumaki who was poor in skill and academics, Boruto was a prodigy, as fans of the series would know by now. He was not only ingrained by the huge chakra reserves of the Uzumaki clan but was also exceptionally good at academics and taijutsu. These were derived from her mother's side, i.e., the Hyuga clan. However, the anime failed to do Hinata the justice she deserved.

As Boruto fans would know, the anime series was often left stranded as there was a lack of source material for adaptation. During such situations, Studio Pierrot relied on side stories, light novels, and filler episodes to keep fans entertained.

During this, the anime revealed several things about the series protagonist. The filler episodes at the start depicted the protagonist's time at the academy. With that, the anime showcased how good Boruto was at academics. Following that, through several instances, especially that one episode with Hanabi Hyuga, the anime portrayed how good the titular character was at taijutsu.

Unfortunately, the anime never gave Hinata credit for the same and instead gave credit to his Hyuga blood. Inheriting the Hyuga blood indeed had a huge contribution to Boruto's skills but none of it would have been possible if it hadn't been Hinata.

Hinata was the one who taught her son the Juken techniques when he was very young. The Juken technique is one of the strongest taijutsu styles in Konoha and Hinatwa was the only character who was said to have mastered it. It is true that the full extent of the technique is only unlocked if the user has Byakugan. However, the technique can be used by itself as well.

The anime also later confirmed through Hanabi that Boruto's physical techniques were on par with that of an adult. This proved that Hinata's training with her son was what essentially helped him become exceptional at taijutsu.

As for the protagonist's academics, it was never truly expanded in the best way, but it was revealed that Hinata had a huge hand to play in her son's academics. While he was already good in his studies, Hinata would push her son into becoming an outstanding student, so much so that he even received perfect scores in class tests.

Thus, if the animation studio was able to create filler episodes of stories that barely played any key part in the main plot's proceedings, Studio Pierrot could have instead opted to produce filler episodes featuring Hinata and her son. With that, the anime would have not only created some content to showcase their relationship but also given more focus on the fan-favorite character.
