Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter 16 has been released and there were plenty of elements that fans could enjoy. The chapter didn’t just focus on one character, and Sumire finally returned to the manga. The chapter also gave Eida plenty of screen time, and fans were happy to see Shikamaru help the protagonist.
However, fans seemed interested in Sumire and the conversation that took place with Sarada Uchiha. Sumire is not the most opinionated person. However, Sarada seemed to have pushed her buttons in the latest conversation.
While Sumire was upset, the fanbase didn’t particularly share the same sentiment. Fans wanted Sumire to “wake up to reality” and focus on the things that mattered. Her feelings for Boruto are important to her. However, fans believe that there is a lot more at stake and that pursuing romantic relationships might not be the best idea at the moment.

Why is Sumire upset and why are Boruto fans not happy with her reaction?
Sumire was the class representative in the academy. This is why her peers always called her by that title, and this seemed to have annoyed her. Sumire is in love with the protagonist, and she isn’t happy about how Sarada leaped into his arms instinctively. She understood Sarada’s actions and found them reasonable. However, she was upset by the fact that Sarada didn’t consider her feelings.
This conversation went on for a couple of minutes and it looked like the matter bothered Sumire a lot. She even told Sarada that Boruto probably got hurt because of their presence. She implied that his combat abilities were far superior to theirs. Essentially, Sumire thought that Sarada’s actions were slightly selfish and that she was unable to put herself in someone else’s shoes.
However, it was clear that her frustration stemmed from the fact that Sarada expressed affection to the man she was in love with. Based on how things are right now, Sumire’s focus shouldn’t be on romantic relationships. The village is in danger of being destroyed, and the protagonist could potentially die in the process.
Jura is powerful enough to hurt the protagonist even if Sarada and Sumire are not present. Additionally, it seems like the protagonist might have a romantic interest in Sarada. These are some of the reasons fans want Sumire to focus on things that matter at the moment.
How fans reacted to Sumire’s conversation with Sarada Uchiha
"yup shes thinking with her emotions and acting out of them, amado already chastised her for this and it seems she didn’t really grow on that front", said one fan.
"She needs to look at the whole picture instead of just looking with her feelings", said another.
"Bro said he will be her righthand man when she becomes hokage. He already practicing for his future role.", said another.
"Sumire honey read the manga", said one netizen.
Fans seemed unhappy with her response, as Sumire is usually known for her ability to think rationally. In this case, however, they believed her emotions were getting in the way. Netizens also stated that the protagonist needs help against the likes of Jura.
Teamwork always trumps solo effort and this is no exception. The protagonist also made a promise to Sarada that he would help her when she becomes Hokage. Fans stated that his recent acts adhere to the promise he once made.
Conclusion
Sumire's response in the Boruto series is not justified. Given the current situation, she needs to think from a rational standpoint and help Konohagakure in the fight against the Shinju. Fans echo the same sentiment as they also want to see her on the battlefield, proving to everyone what a valued kunoichi she is.
