While the majority of the Boruto manga depicted the protagonist as a good person and Kawaki as a person affected by the malice around him, the Two Blue Vortex manga put a new spin on their ensembles. However, this spin wasn't the result of their renewed character designs for the sequel series but due to the changes brought upon by Eida's Omnipotence Shinjutsu.

At the end of the prequel manga, after hearing Kawaki rant about his adoptive brother and the fate that was imposed upon them, Eida used her Omnipotence Shinjutsu to switch Kawaki's position with the protagonist. Following that, Kawaki became a Uzumaki while Boruto became an outsider.

Unbeknownst to fans, the Two Blue Vortex manga has depicted this character dynamic through its character designs. Surprisingly, these designs can also be compared with the dynamic between angels and demons.

How does Two Blue Vortex manga bring forth the angel-demon dynamic through Boruto and Kawaki?

As one can observe in the Two Blue Vortex manga, Boruto and Kawaki have contrasting outfits following the three-year timeskip. While the protagonist's outfit is black on the outside and white on the inside, Kawaki's outfit colors contrast it with a dark color (dark blue) on the inside and white on the outside.

There is good reason to believe that these character designs weren't purely based on aesthetics but on the characters' stories. While Boruto was a good person, the truth had been hidden away by Eida's Shinjutsu, forcing people to believe that he was an evil person.

Thus, while he was a good person on the inside, people viewed him as a bad person. This was seemingly depicted by his outfit, which saw him wear white on the inside and black on the outside.

In contrast, following Kawaki's attempted murder of his adoptive brother to protect the Seventh Hokage Naruto Uzumaki, it was clear that the karma user was essentially a bad person on the inside. Fortunately, due to Eida's Shinjutsu, people thought otherwise, viewing him as a good person. This was depicted by Kawaki's dark apparel on the inside and white apparel on the outside.

With that established, the reason the two characters' dynamic can be compared to angels and demons is due to the nature of their outfits. As per biblical writing, unlike popular beliefs as per which angels are good-looking entities, they seemingly make themselves look scary to ward off evil.

In contrast, demons make themselves look beautiful to deceive humans. Thus, with the dark outfit, the protagonist seemingly wished to make himself look like a threat to ward off any enemies. Meanwhile, with the lighter outfit, Kawaki seemingly wished to make himself look like a nice and approachable person. He wanted to manipulate people and needed people to trust him so that his plan could work.
