The Boruto anime is divisive to a lot of fans, even to those who like the series, but is often praised in its fandom for setting up clues for future plot points. There is evidence that it could be hinting at the possibility of the titlular character getting his own version of Kurama, the Nine-Tails. While this might seem weird to some people when considering that her sister Himawari currently has the Nine-Tails, this theory has some legs.

The anime has contributed to this theory through the events of Boruto traveling to the past with Sasuke Uchiha and interacting with a young Naruto when using Kurama chakra, and also during the arc where his father used Baryon Mode.

Those two events, while not having a lot of connections on the surface, could be two major ways of foreshadowing the reasons why the protagonist could be getting his own Kurama.

Explaining how Boruto could get his own Nine-Tails in the series

This theory explains that Himawari would not be the only one of Naruto's children to have Kurama and that, on paper, could have been foreshadowed by the anime. The first example of that is how, when traveling to the past with Sasuke Uchiha, the protagonist was able to touch Naruto when the latter was using Kurama's chakra, wasn't rejected and even slowly imbued by it, thus showing a certain natural inclination to it.

The other event was when Naruto used Baryon Mode and its chakra in this state covered his son, without affecting the latter, which shouldn't be possible when considering the nature of this transformation. It is also worth pointing out that this little scene didn't happen in the manga and was added in the anime, so it could either mean something or could be a small detail that studio Pierrot didn't notice.

Furthermore, in the recent chapters of the Two Blue Vortex manga, Kurama tells Himawari that she can hold his power because of her Uzumaki and Hyuga blood, which her older brother also has. After all, the Uzumaki clan is connected to the Senju clan, which hails from Hagoromo and, therefore, Kaguya, who is the one responsible, in a way, for the chakra of the Tailed Beasts, thus connecting everything.

Issues with this theory

A significant argument in favor of this theory is that Kurama could be divided, much like he was within Naruto and Minato at the same time during the original. However, this element features a series of problems for the narrative, with the first one being that Jura should have felt the presence of both Uzumaki children when he entered the Hidden Leaf Village, and not just Himawari. This argument, therefore, creates a conflict in the story.

Furthermore, if the protagonist currently has a portion of Kurama within him, he should be capable of using it to a degree in the case he is aware of it, and he has been trained extensively by Sasuke Uchiha to not be able to tap into it.

A possible angle for this scenario is that Momoshiki is sealing Kurama's powers, thus feeding into another theory, which is Boruto refusing to use Karma because the Otsutsuki could once again take over his body.

Final thoughts

There is enough evidence, both in the anime and the manga, that Boruto could have a portion of Kurama's chakra within him, especially considering that the original story already set the precedent of the Nine-Tails being divided into two individuals. However, this is just mere fan speculation at the moment.
