Boruto needs to give Sarada the spotlight before it's too late

Boruto has received praise for the Two Blue Vortex time skip, but Sarada Uchiha hasn't fully stood out. Although she's a main character, her limited feats and lack of spotlight are concerning, especially as the protagonist and villains grow stronger.

While is true that not everything in a story is strength as far as good writing goes, Boruto is the kind of series where battles resolve conflicts and Sarada is a fighter who doesn't get to do much in the plot. It's been years since the fans have claimed that she is going to fulfill her potential as a character but there have been some comparisons to Megumi Fushiguro from Jujutsu Kaisen because of the "Potential Man/Woman" meme.

Boruto needs to give Sarada Uchiha more development so she doesn't become a "Potential Woman"

Megumi Fushiguro from Jujutsu Kaisen popularized the "Potential Man" meme because he had a lot of promise and his character failed to live up to it, whether it was in terms of writing or strength. In that regard, there are already memes of Sarada Uchiha being a "Potential Woman" because she has been hyped for years as having a lot of potential as a ninja and has struggled greatly.

Moreover, the character's relevance in the story has been massively undermined as the series goes on, to the point that her only contribution is trusting the protagonist despite the effects of Eida's Omnipotence. However, she is not truly connected to the plot of the Shinju clones and isn't a major player when it comes to dealing with Omnipotence or the whereabouts of her father Sasuke Uchiha.

Although Sarada is meant to be the main character, she’s had little opportunity for growth and hasn’t made a significant impact on the story. Fans expect her to eventually reach her potential as a Uchiha and inherit her mother Sakura's super strength, but currently, she remains far behind the series' stronger characters.

More reasons for concern

It is also worth pointing out that part of the damage has been done with Sarada's character in the Boruto manga since her growth should have been more natural from the very beginning of the story. However, she has mostly been on the backburner when compared to the roles the protagonist and Kawaki have had.

When compared to her father in the original series, Sarada has been sidelined greatly and isn't connected to any significant plot point besides trusting the protagonist despite the effects of the Omnipotence ability.

It is fair to say that author Masashi Kishimoto could give her a power-up, as evidenced by the direction he took with Himawari Uzumaki and Kurama. However, a strong character isn't automatically a good one and requires quality writing, which is something Sarada has been struggling with.

Final thoughts

There is still a chance Sarada Uchiha could be saved in Boruto and fulfill her potential as a character. However, fans have a reason to be concerned, especially considering how events have played out in the series.
