Following the end of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, manga fans were looking forward to the sequel manga as it was finally set to feature the long-awaited timeskip, which was hinted at by the series back in 2016.

Thus, as the release date for the first chapter of the Two Blue Vortex manga inched closer, fans were left bewildered. This is because the V Jump magazine cover for the corresponding manga chapter was leaked online. With that, fans got to witness the protagonist's timeskip design.

Fans looked into the same with great curiosity and found several easter eggs in the character design. While the series addressed some of the elements, there is one symbolic reference that fans must have missed out on.

As one can observe, the protagonist's latest character design in the Two Blue Vortex manga features several small ornaments. His necklace features the Uzumaki crest, while his pins include the sun and the Hidden Leaf Village crest. However, there is one other crest pin on the jacket, which fans may have failed to recognize.

The pin that is placed below the sun crest pin symbolizes the "bolt" logo. As fans must remember, during his academy days, the back of Boruto's jacket did not feature the Uzumaki crest. Instead, it featured a crest that represented a bolt.

As any fan of the series must know, the series protagonist's name is derived from the word "bolt." This was a play on his uncle Neji Hyuga's name, which meant "nut." Hence, given how nut and bolt are used together, Naruto named his son "Boruto" in honor of his wife Hinata Hyuga's late cousin.

Subsequently, to represent his name, Boruto wore a jacket that had a bolt symbol on it. This is a crest that was deeply etched into his past, making the pin a symbolic reference to his childhood in Konoha.

That said, the manga series has yet to explain what function the pin plays on his jacket. Is the pin a scientific ninja tool that the protagonist could use for his convenience, or does it purely act as a cosmetic?

The reason one can assume the pin to be a scientific ninja tool is because, as evident from the flashbacks, the protagonist wasn't wearing them before he met his new teacher Kashin Koji. It was seemingly only after he met the Jiraiya clone that he added such pins to his gear.

Therefore, considering how his "Hidden Leaf Village" crest pin seemingly worked as a marker for the Flying Raijin Jutsu, the other pins could also have some functions. Although fans may have to wait sometime before the manga explores the same.
