Boruto's words in the opening flashback could explain why Two Blue Vortex seems devoid of good fighters

Since the start of the Boruto: Two Blue Vortex manga series, fans have observed how all characters other than the protagonist have been struggling with fighting the antagonists. While fans initially thought this characteristic was only associated with Kawaki, with the manga's progress, it has become very evident that other characters have become useless as well.

Fans did not like this development as this suggested that the protagonist was the only character who trained in the three-year time skip. However, that cannot be true as each character should have had some noticeable upgrade to their abilities. Hence, one Boruto fan came up with a theory that explained the developments taking place in the manga.

Boruto theory explains why Two Blue Vortex has good fighters

According to u/0cTony, a Boruto fan on Reddit, everything that has been happening in the Two Blue Vortex manga could have been hinted at by the protagonist in the flash-forward scene in the manga's first chapter itself.

Boruto's statement:

"The age of Shinobi shall end."

The manga's first chapter saw the protagonist state that the age of shinobi was over. Given that it was a flash-forward, what the protagonist said could have been what he had observed over the course of events.

The fan theorized that the series opened with this statement to set the theme, as the "way of the shinobi" was seemingly no longer capable of taking down the series' antagonists.

This was evident as none of the shinobi were as strong to defeat an Otsutsuki-level threat. Fans might remember, that Madara Uchiha was able to fight Eight-Gates Might Guy, all the Kages, all the Jichuriki, Sage Mode + Kurama Chakra Mode Naruto, and Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan Sasuke Uchiha all by himself.

The only person who could defeat him was Kaguya Otsutsuki. Hence, if Madara Uchiha himself could not defeat an Otsutsuki-level threat, there was no way characters like Sarada Uchiha, Konohamaru Sarutobi, or even Himawari Uzumaki could fight the God Trees on equal terms. Thus, given that the antagonists were Otsutsuki-level, there was no way ninjutsu would work on them. Hence, the "Age of Shinobi" might be truly over.

Even Kawaki believed this theme as he never truly believed in the "way of the Shinobi" and always sought out power from his Karma to power through his fights. The only way ninjutsu could work on Otsutsuki-level threats was if the person in question was overly strong, which hardly seems to be the case with the cast of the Two Blue Vortex manga.

Thus, as per the fan, every character other than the protagonist might soon need to rely on ninja tech to survive against the God Trees. This is because being just a ninja might no longer be a safe option.

Perhaps when Boruto said “But I’m still… a shinobi,” it was because he was the only person left who could use ninjutsu, kinjutsu, dojutsu, and more strong enough to compete against the Otsutsuki-level threats. Thus, if Boruto's dialogue in the opening flashback was meant to foreshadow future events, it makes sense why none of the other characters seem like good fighters.
