As fans must have noticed in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex manga, despite having karma, the protagonist refuses to use it. While this may seem conceited to some fans, the more realistic reason could be that Boruto does not want Momoshiki Otsutsuki to have the slightest chance of taking over his body.
If fans remember, in the prequel manga, Momoshiki Otsutsuki had taken over the protagonist's body multiple times. During these instances, he not only went berserk but also took out his master Sasuke Uchiha's Rinnegan eye. Hence, it seems obvious why the protagonist would not want to leave any opening for the same to happen again.
However, evidence from the sequel manga suggests that the protagonist might want to deny Momoshiki accessibility to control his body to prevent him from becoming the strongest Otsutsuki.

How can Boruto turn Momoshiki into the strongest Otsutsuki?
As fans might remember, whenever Momoshiki has taken control over Boruto and become "Borushiki," he has always used Jutsu possessed by the protagonist. However, the Otsutsuki can not only access and use its host's jutsu and abilities but also amplify them as per his chakra reserve.
This was especially evident in Team 7's fight against Kara Inner member Boro. After Momoshiki manifested in the protagonist's body, he stole Naruto's chakra and accessed Boruto's Rasengan to create a massive Rasengan. He used the same to annihilate the Kara member.
Momoshiki was able to do this when the protagonist was just 12 years old. Hence, one can only imagine what the Otsutsuki would be able to do after the time skip. Evidently, the Seventh Hokage's son has become substantially stronger, so Momoshiki taking over him could have particularly adverse effects.
Following the time skip, the protagonist showcased two major jutsu, the Rasengan Uzuhiko, and the Flying Thunder God Technique. While the Flying Thunder God Technique would only allow Momoshiki to travel faster, the Rasengan Uzuhiko could have devastating effects.
This is because, as explained by the young Lord, the Rasengan Uzuhiko is a jutsu that makes use of the planet's chakra, i.e., its rotation and orbit. These forces can cause massive damage to an opponent, as evident in the manga series' latest chapter, where the protagonist used it on God Tree Hidari. The surprising thing is that, despite the devastating aftermath, the jutsu wasn't even complete.
If Momoshiki Otsutsuki were able to access the jutsu, it could effectively mean the end of the planet. Since the Otsutsuki can amplify a jutsu, and Rasengan Uzuhiko is already called a limitless jutsu, amplifying it could destroy huge landmasses. This is how Boruto could turn Momoshiki into the strongest Otsutsuki.
This situation also paints what was happening with the protagonist. While he needed to become strong to protect the Hidden Leaf Vilage, his increasing power was effectively a curse on him due to the possibility of Momoshiki manifesting within him.
