With the release of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter 12, the manga saw Boruto and Sarada team up against God Tree Hidari. While they managed to overwhelm the God Tree with Konohamaru and Kawaki's help, the situation flipped over after Jura made his move.

The previous chapter saw Himawari access Kurama chakra and heal Inojin. Right after, she began fighting Jura all by herself. Elsewhere, Hidari attacked Sarada and others to devour his target. Just as Himawari and Sarada were in danger, Boruto returned to Konoha and saved them using his Flying Raijin Jutsu.

Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter 12, titled 'Thorn Soul Bulb,' picked up from where the previous chapter ended as Boruto confronted God Tree Hidari. He placed Himawari on the ground and asked Konohamaru to guard her. Right after, Boruto blocked attacks from Hidari and pushed him away using Wind Style: Breakthrough. Hidari used this momentum to teleport through one of his Claw Marks.

Elsewhere, Kawaki and Delta reached Jura's location. With Team 10 and Himawari missing, Delta contacted the Sensor team and got their locations. As for Kawaki, he was bothered by Jura's odd stance on the ground.

Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter 12 switched back to Boruto and co as Konohamaru questioned Boruto's actions given that he was branded as a criminal. But Sarada stopped him immediately, as had it not been for him, she would have died. Right after, Boruto asked Nishi, the sensory ninja, to be on the lookout for any chakra disturbances from the Claw Marks.

The manga then saw Sumire inform Boruto that Sarada was Hidari's target. This is because even though Konohamaru was closer to him, he went after Sarada. Even Sarada added that the God Tree planned on devouring her. While she had no idea what that meant, she knew it had something to do with her father being turned into a tree. This alarmed Konohamaru as Moegi had also been turned into one.

Thus, Boruto informed everyone that Hidari was a being manifested from Sasuke Uchiha's chakra. But there was no need to hold back; they needed to take him down to save Sasuke. Konohamaru questioned Boruto's information source when Boruto asked him to concentrate on the enemy. Just then, Nishi informed them about chakra disturbances from the Claw Marks.

Moments later, Claw Grimes emerged from the Claw Marks. Hence, Boruto and Sarada prepared to take them on. During this, Boruto asked Sarada only to counter enemies that attacked her as she needed to protect herself from Hidari. As the fight began, Boruto took down multiple Claw Grimes.

Just as one of the Claw Grimes attacked Sarada, she countered it. However, Hidari emerged out of the Claw Grime's chest and got hold of Sarada.

Upon noticing this, Boruto teleported behind Hidari and hit him with a Rasengan. While Hidari was badly injured, he returned to his hideout again. Moments later, Hidari quickly returned to Boruto's location and left additional Claw Marks to increase his attack options and left.

Seeing this, Sarada asked Boruto to fly into the air as she would stay on the ground to draw his attention. Just as Hidari would return, Sarada wanted Boruto to hit him with another Rasengan. But Boruto rejected this idea as he planned on using Rasengan Uzuhiko at Maximum Output.

As explained by Boruto, a single hit of this attack should have finished Hidari, but he needed to extract the planet's chakra through his feet. Hence, flying wasn't an option.

Upon hearing this, Konohamaru understood that Boruto needed others to buy him some time; hence, he asked Sumire and Nishi to look after Himawari. A moment later, when Hidari tried returning, Konohamaru used Rasen Barrier on him.

However, Hidari did not stop at that as he transformed his hand and got hold of Sarada through another Claw Mark. Sarada immediately freed herself using the Chidori Stream and threw Hidari toward Boruto.

While Boruto's Rasengan Uzuhiko wasn't completely prepared, he had no choice. Hence, he attacked the God Tree with it. While the jutsu was overwhelming, Hidari wasn't completely erased, as his head and part of his torso did not sustain damage. Boruto was worried about Hidari getting away again. Just then, Kawaki arrived at the battlefield and destroyed what was left of the God Tree.

Surprisingly, Hidari wasn't completely erased, as his core with a Rinnegan remained. Boruto immediately caught hold of it and had Kashin Koji inspect it through the toad on his shoulder. Kashin Koji confirmed that Boruto was holding the "Thorn Soul Bulb." Kawaki immediately asked Boruto what that thing was. In response, Boruto revealed that it was something he needed to save his master, who had turned into a tree.

With that, Boruto threatened to cut Kawaki's arm off unless he let him go. However, just like Konohamaru, Kawaki, too, wanted to know Boruto's information source. Just then, Boruto was hit with an attack that went through his chest. With that, he dropped the Thorn Soul Bulb and fell to the ground.

Kawaki immediately contacted Delta, asking her about Jura's status. Delta informed Kawaki that Jura had sniped Boruto from the same location he was at, supposedly outside the Hidden Leaf Village.

Apparently, what Boruto was attacked with was a laser-like manifestation of the Biju Bomb. As for Sarada Uchiha, she remembered what Boruto said about the Thorn Soul Bulb and tried retrieving it, but she, too, was hit by Jura's attack. Following that, Jura retrieved Hidari's Thorn Soul Bulb by pulling it towards himself.

Upon retrieving it, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter 12 focused on Jura. He was surprised to learn that Boruto also knew about Thorn Soul Bulb. Hence, the God Tree decided that Kawaki was more than enough to serve as food for the Ten Tails. As for Boruto, Jura planned on killing him.
