Boruto: Two Blue Vortex’s release schedule seems to have resulted in the fanbase getting restless in between chapter releases. Since it takes a month for a chapter to be released, fans often resort to having discussions on various forums, which, in turn, results in the community crafting fan theories and talking about various possibilities.
One such fan theory is crafted around Kawaki, who is certainly not having a great time in the manga. When he was first introduced, fans believed that he would be an interesting deuteragonist. However, three years seemed to have created a massive gap between him and his rival with respect to their combat abilities.
However, fans have reason to believe that Kawaki will go on to follow his idol’s footsteps in a way that nobody imagined.

Boruto: Two Blue Vortex fan theory explains how Kawaki could potentially become the next Hokage
Those who are up to date with the manga chapters will know that Shikamaru Nara is in a lot of trouble. He was the interim Hokage when Naruto Uzumaki disappeared, and the entire village presumed his death. Shikamaru, being one of the best strategists, was the perfect candidate for this position. One would argue that the Hokage’s responsibilities tend towards strategizing rather than brute force. However, the things that transpired over the past three years were too much, even for someone like Shikamaru.
Eida’s Omnipotence allowed Kawaki to seal Naruto and Hinata to a different dimension and then have his identity switched with Boruto. This led to the village believing that it was the protagonist who killed Naruto and proceeded to flee the village. Only a handful of people in the entire village were immune to Eida’s Omnipotence, and they are Sarada and Sumire. Amado and Shikamaru might be able to notice the inconsistencies in the events and eventually learn the truth.
In the meantime, the Daimyo seem to be looking for another Hokage. Given how things are at the moment, Kawaki could eventually end up becoming a Hokage. As far as the village is concerned, he is an exceptionally powerful shinobi who has shown a lot of maturity. Given his current powers, there is a possibility that the Daimyo and the Elders have taken note of the same, potentially listing him as one of the candidates.
Their haste could result in Kawaki becoming the new Hokage in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex. The first chapter showed Boruto and Kawaki in the future, with the latter sporting a different outfit. Fans have reason to believe that the change in outfit is an indication of him becoming the Hokage and having unique attire.
Another interesting aspect of this theory is that it takes Kishimoto and Ikemoto’s statements made in France into account. The aforementioned interview was conducted in France to commemorate Konoha Day. Here, the writers stated that Kawaki would soon be showing major character development.
For someone who is extremely selfish, being put in a position where he must prioritize the village above everything else would be the most poetic form of showing character development for someone like Kawaki. We urge the fanbase to patiently wait for the upcoming set of chapters to confirm whether or not the events predicted in the fan theory are true.
