Boruto: Two Blue Vortex is heading in an interesting direction, with the current arc potentially rushing the series toward its endgame. In the latest chapter, Shikamaru devises a plan for Konohamaru's team to befriend the sentient Divine Trees, only to betray them later and collect their Thorn Soul Bulbs.
The chapter also features Jura, the leader of the Divine Trees, invading Konoha with the goal of purchasing some books, even paying in cash to cover both his current and future purchases. The chapter concludes with Kawaki confronting Amado, demanding that the scientist draw out all his powers to their fullest extent.

The direction Boruto: Two Blue Vortex's current arc could take to rush the series' finale
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter 17 saw Shikamaru instructing Konohamaru to act friendly with the Divine Trees, only to betray them later and collect their Thorn Soul Bulbs. According to Shikamaru, the Divine Trees resembled wild beast cubs, while they weren't inherently evil, they could pose a dangerous threat.
While working with the Divine Trees, Sarada and Mitsuki managed to separate Ryu from Matsuri, leaving her with Konohamaru. The chapter also showed Jura buying books from a Konoha bookstore, paying in cash for both current and future purchases without engaging in any conflict.
With the Divine Trees separated, the upcoming chapter could see Ryu and Matsuri attacked for their Thorn Soul Bulbs. The best opportunity to take them out would be while they are apart and Jura is at the bookstore. The news of the attack will likely reach Jura, who would probably try to intervene.
Shikamaru has instructed all personnel not to engage, but they could still trap Jura in the library with the help of multiple powerful sealing and barrier jutsus. This could lead to Hidari appearing to save Jura. He has the same lone-wolf personality just like his human counterpart Sasuke and might decide to sacrifice himself, allowing Jura to escape.
Enraged and disappointed by the actions of the shinobis, Jura could end up wiping out the entire village in retaliation. This would bring the story's premise back to the flash-forward that showed Boruto and Kawaki battling over a ruined Konoha.
While the possibility of these events occurring in rapid succession seems unlikely, the storyline could be fast-tracked even if main events, like Ryu and Matsuri being attacked, unfold. Jura's real plan for invading Konoha could also be revealed in the upcoming chapter. Additionally, the exchange between Kawaki and Amado could see the scientist drawing out the full extent of Kawaki's power.
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex is at a precarious position in its storyline, with the delicate understanding between the Shinju and the Shinobi on the verge of shattering at any moment. This would lead to dire consequences for every character in the series.
