There are a plethora of boxer anime characters who would run through every weight division if they were transported into the real world. Many of them are even capable of going toe-to-toe with the greatest fighters boxing has ever seen, but not many boxers can do the same.

The reason why many boxers are capable of standing up to many boxers is due to the superhuman feats the anime world gives them. Many of these fighters could collect hits to their chin and not falter, unlike the real world where their backs will touch the ground immediately.

There is also a willpower aspect of boxer anime characters that doesn’t just translate to real life; it leads them to win battles continuously.

Mike Tyson, one of the greatest boxers of all time has been in popular media recently, even anime has made nods to the legendary boxer, with the most famous being Hajime No Ippo. Fans have theorized for a long time whether Mike Tyson’s skills will hold up against professional anime boxers and how many of them can beat him.

Here are the eight boxer anime characters who could beat Mike Tyson in a fight.

1) Yujiro Hanma

Yujiro Hanma is the primary antagonist of Baki and one of the strongest martial artists in anime. Though he is not a pro boxer, he still employs many moves from boxing when he is in combat. Due to him using boxing moves and skills, he qualifies as one of the boxer anime characters.

If Mike Tyson and Yujiro Hanma had a hypothetical battle based on boxing rules, the amount of damage done to Mike Tyson would make the heavyweight never pick up his gloves again. Yujiro Hanma is stronger, faster, and has endless reserves of stamina. While Mike Tyson might dodge one punch, the fight will be over from the first round.

2) Baki Hanma

Baki Hanma is the son of Yujiro Hanma and another skilled martial artist who employs boxing as part of his repertoire. The only difference between Baki and Yujiro is how easily Baki can adapt and copy his opponent's moves.

This spells doom for Mike Tyson as his peek-a-boo style can be used against him but on a much higher scale due to Baki’s strength and speed. Mike Tyson will lose heavily against this boxer anime character.

3) Ippo Makanouchi

Ippo Makanouchi is a direct copy of Mike Tyson, and it is clear the author of Hajime No Ippo is a huge fan. Everything from his mannerisms to his peek-a-boo style screams Mike Tyson. Ippo is also an infighter with him thriving in situations of close combat.

A boxing match between the two will end in an Ippo victory, this is due to having shown better stamina feats. In terms of strength, Mike Tyson might be stronger due to him being a heavyweight, but Ippo wins on willpower and stamina alone. He is a top-notch boxer anime character.

4) Takamura

Takamura will dispatch Mike Tyson with relative ease. This is a boxer anime character that defeated a bear, imagine what he would do to Mike Tyson! Takamura is also easily adaptable and from his feats in Hajime no Ippo, he can fight in the most difficult of conditions.

Takamura will not just outlast Mike Tyson in a battle, he will inflict serious damage on him.

5) Mohammed Alai

Mohammed Alai is another anime character that pays homage to a boxing great. He is in the Bakiverse, and his character is modeled after the late Mohammed Ali. Mohammed Alai is one of Baki’s most noble characters, and in boxing, nobody in the anime comes close to him in boxing skills.

In Baki, he was even the world’s boxing champion at some point, and considering how strong the world of Baki is, it is no easy feat.

6) Ikki Takeda

Ikki Takeda is a character from Kenichi: The Mightiest Disciple and one boxer anime character Tyson will struggle to come close to. Takeda’s strong suit is his endless durability. He has been shown to tank heavy hits like when he blocked a knee-strike from Kenichi with his fist, and when he was stabbed with a spear, he still counter-attacked.

Mike Tyson couldn’t match up to any of these feats in his prime as a boxer. Takeda can also fight against multiple opponents without breaking a sweat.

7) Yuri Chakovsky

This is another character from Baki the Grappler, and he starts the anime as one of the strongest boxers. In Baki the Grappler, he beats Baki, and considering how strong Baki is, this is no easy feat. He was one of the most promising characters in the entire anime till his arm was blown up by S-tier fighter, Hanayama.

Yuri is capable of beating fighters of various martial arts, as shown when he beats Baki and holds his own against other martial artists. Mike Tyson would stand no chance against Yuri Chavosky as he is a top boxer anime character.

8) Gearless Joe

Gearless Joe is one of Anime’s sweetest underdog characters, and his story in Megalobox contains many parallels to Mike Tyson’s real-life tale that one would think he was modeled after Mike Tyson.

The fight between Gearless Joe and Mike Tyson would not be a fight at all, it will be Gearless Joe knocking out Tyson in the first round. Gearless Joe faces fighters who fight with gears when boxing and he doesn’t lose, imagine what he would do to Tyson. Gearless Joe is a top boxer anime character and one of the strongest.

Final thoughts

Mike Tyson is one of the boxing greats and in his prime, one of the strongest boxers to ever grace the ring. He has been constantly referenced in pop culture for years and has been shown in numerous films, with minor and major roles.

Even anime has not been exempt from his influence with various characters being modeled after the heavyweight. Ian Mcgregor in Baki is modeled after Mike Tyson and Ippo Makanouchi is another character who shares the same fate. If Mike Tyson was transported to the anime world, he would be an average boxer anime character.
