Captain Tsubasa episode 38, set for release on June 23, 2024, at 4 pm IST, is expected to show the return of the Japanese team to their homeland. It may deal with the aftermath of their success in the Junior Youth Tournament while also likely showing Tsubasa's mini-arc in the manga involving Kanda.

Kumi finally confessed her feelings to Tsubasa and was predictably rejected, but she did ask him to share his romantic interest with Sanae, as was shown during the vast majority of the series. However, Kanda, another student who has a background in boxing, also has feelings for Sanae, and this led to a confrontation between him and Tsubasa, although with significant alterations from the manga.

Therefore, Captain Tsubasa episode 38 is likely to show more of their time in Japan, especially considering now that the entire tournament in France has ended. The preview images of the upcoming episode showed images of the players' future after the tournament, which is probably going to be the next topic to address.

Recap of the previous episode

The most recent episode showed Tsubasa coming back to his everyday life at school as he does some work as a coach for the football team, alongside preparing for his travel to Brazil. On the other hand, Kumi finally revealed her feelings to him and she was rejected, which was something she expected since she knew Tsubasa was in love with Sanae Nakazawa, prompting the protagonist to confess to her.

Meanwhile, the members of the Japanese side who study with Tsubasa, including Ishizaki, were with Sanae when the latter was approached by another student Kanda, a boxer in training. Kanda has feelings for Sanae and challenged Tsubasa to a duel for the young girl's love, although the protagonist rejected this notion, only fighting because the boxer in training hurt the lady by accident.

There were some considerable changes from the source material, such as Ishizaki only being pushed by Kanda and the latter only pushing Sanae instead of injuring her. Furthermore, Tsubasa does physically hurt Kanda in the manga, although this is drastically changed in this version.

Captain Tsubasa episode 38 will likely serve as an epilogue of sorts, focusing on how Tsubasa and his teammates are bound to go back home, and deal with some small arcs in their respective lives.

The preview images of the upcoming episode showed the aftermath of what happened to some players after the Junior Youth tournament, so that is potentially going to be the focus.
