Following the return of Pochita in his Hero of Hell form to author and illustrator Tatsuski Fujimoto’s manga series, fans are more anxious than ever for Chainsaw Man Chapter 172’s release. Thankfully, the series will not be taking a break week before its next release, meaning fans won’t have long to wait at all to see the current arc’s continuation.
Unfortunately, however, there is no currently available verifiable spoiler information for Chainsaw Man Chapter 172 as of this article’s writing. Moreover, it’s unlikely that any verifiable spoilers are made available prior to the issue’s official release. This is due to the manga’s digital publication nature as a Shonen Jump+ series, which inherently complicates any potential spoiler processes.
Thankfully, there are some aspects of and events within Chainsaw Man Chapter 172 that fans can rely on being present in the official release this coming Tuesday, July 23, 2024. Unsurprisingly, the issue will most likely be an action packed one, with Denji already in position to strike at Tokyo Special Division 5 with his Hero of Hell form.
Chainsaw Man Chapter 172 likely to primarily focus on setting the stage for Yoru versus the Hero of Hell
Chainsaw Man Chapter 172 will most likely open up with a focus on Denji, still in his Hero of Hell form, showing him getting ready to rush at Tokyo Special Division 5. The Public Safety team will likely be unaware of his presence until he strikes, likely taking out at least two of their members in this opening shot for the battle.
Tokyo Special Division 5’s members should then be given a chance to at least briefly show what they can do. It’s likely at this point where the team will be shown as clearly having taken inspiration from Kishibe’s Anti-Makima Squad. Likewise, fans can expect at least one of the agents to be contracted with the Hell Devil, setting up a rematch between him and Denji.
However, Chainsaw Man Chapter 172 will likely quickly establish Denji’s superiority, seeing him defeat the Hell Devil instantly. Should any of the other members try to heal it with their blood as the Anti-Makima Squad once did, Denji will likely recognize this pattern and prevent it from happening again.
The issue should then focus on War Devil Yoru/Asa Mitaka and the others. More specifically, Yoru and Famine Devil Fami will likely be conversing about whether or not this is the Chainsaw Man she wants to fight, which Fami should confirm. It’s more likely than not, based on her initial reaction to Pochita’s reappearance, that she admits she’s unable to defeat Denji in her current state, and would need more power to do so.
Chainsaw Man Chapter 172 should then see Fami summon either the other Weapons Hybrids, or more Devils under her control such as the Falling Devil. Regardless of who she summons here, her forces should begin making their way over to Denji, prompting another shift in perspective to him as he defeats the last of Tokyo Special Division 5.
It’s likely that Denji will then be attacked by an explosion, revealed to have come from Bomb Girl Reze. Some commentary will likely be heard from Reze here, possibly even teasing why she’s here or who she’s aligned with, as Denji rushes at her. The issue should end with confirmation that Reze did dodge Denji’s attack, setting up their fight as a focus for later chapters.
