With ears having returned heading into Chainsaw Man chapter 174, fans are expecting War Devil Yoru to make her move with it now confirmed Pochita can throw Devils back up. While many were expecting the series to take on Obon week break, that doesn’t seem to be the case, with chapter 174 set to be officially released on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at 12AM JST.

Unfortunately, however, there is no currently available verifiable spoiler information for Chainsaw Man chapter 174 as of this article’s writing. Moreover, it’s unlikely that any verifiable spoilers are made available prior to the issue’s official release. Chainsaw Man chapter 174 will almost certainly open up with a focus on War Devil Yoru, who’ll likely be in a combative frenzy after seeing the Ear Devil thrown up by Pochita. Asa Mitaka will likely try and convince her to stand down considering the presence of Hirofumi Yoshida and presumably other Public Safety forces. Notably, it’ll likely be made clear here that Yoru and co are unaware of the presence of the presumed Paralysis Devil in the fight against Pochita.

This should transition into a focus on Public Safety, seeing some sort of leader or higher up be informed of the fact that Pochita did indeed vomit the Ear Devil back up. This should transition into the reveal of whatever their ultimate goal or plan is which necessitated confirming such information, as it otherwise doesn’t make sense for them to risk losing Ear Devil permanently.

Chainsaw Man chapter 174 will likely reveal that Public Safety wants a very specific Devil from Pochita’s stomach, likely something which can erase the concept of Devils itself. While it’s unclear exactly what this may be, it could be a Devil which represents the concept of bravery or courage. In turn, restoring this Devil may give humanity the mental fortitude needed to weaken the power of every Devil and fully eliminate most from existence.

From here, focus should return to Pochita and Yoshida, where the latter will briefly communicate with Public Safety before saying a few words to Denji. The Paralysis Devil will likely watch on silently as this happens, somehow communicating with Yoshida to see if anything else is needed of it. As it asks this, Pochita will likely break free of the Octopus Devil’s restraints, seeing the fight begin once more.

The trio will likely skirmish with each other briefly, with neither side getting an advantage over the other. Pochita may even begin throwing up additional Devils here as he takes some major hits, in turn leading to additional worldbuilding and lore. Assuming this will be the case, it’s likely he’ll throw up a Devil which is related to war in some way. This would set up the issue to end on Yoru’s debut in the fight, now stronger than ever thanks to Yoshida and the Paralysis Devil.
