Chainsaw Man chapter 177 was expected to focus exclusively on War Devil Yoru and Chainsaw Devil Pochita’s fight, seeing it continue in a bloody and brutal fashion. Officially released on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, the issue did see the pair’s exciting battle continue but only for a brief moment before Pochita fled elsewhere.
From this point on, Chainsaw Man chapter 177 sees Pochita seemingly attempting to heal himself by finding someone to volunteer their blood. Alternatively, this could be Denji’s personality shining through and being reminded of Power, whom he said goodbye to the last time Pochita’s Hero of Hell form took over him. Meanwhile, Yoru seems to be planning something huge by nature of calling upon her “family tree” as the War Devil and what war spawns.
Chainsaw Man chapter 177 sees Yoru overwhelm Pochita briefly before their fight is put on pause
Chainsaw Man chapter 177: Gun Gauntlet, go
Chainsaw Man chapter 177 begins with a shot of the Mouth Devil’s head skipping along the ground as dialogue appears, which simply says “mouth restored.” Pochita is then shown to be gravely injured from War Devil Yoru’s last attack, prompting her to once again fire with the Gun Gauntlet by saying the word “bang” like Makima once did.
Pochita attempts to block the shot, but it overwhelms him, breaking his defenses and sending him flying back skipping along the ground. He eventually slams into a building, while Asa Mitaka is looking at her new arms with a shocked expression. Yoru then comments on how both Tank and Gun were “created out of war,” saying they fought for her as her kin and symbols of her horrors.
Chainsaw Man chapter 177 sees Asa ask for confirmation that killing Pochita, whom she calls “the black Chainsaw Man,” will help grant Denji’s wish. Yoru confirms that this is what Famine Devil Fami told them, while Asa asks Yoru if she’s really okay with turning her friends, the Devils born from her, into weapons.
Yoru simply responds that children are their parents’ property, leaving Asa with a truly horrified look on her face. Pochita then rouses at that moment, jumping to the top of the building he was slammed into. Yoru rants at him, asking if he remembers her now from the pain, if it made him tremble, and if his stomach now rumbles with the desire to eat her.
Chainsaw Man chapter 177 sees her further assert that she made him pretty mad, demanding he fight her likewise. However, Pochita simply vanishes, prompting Yoru to begin waving her arms around in case of an attack while demanding he show himself. Unfortunately for her, Pochita heads to an entirely different area, landing in front of a girl who is promoting a mobile blood drive.
Pochita stares down at her until she realizes his presence, screaming as she looks up at him. Pochita then looks down at the “give blood” sign and picks it up, trying to speak while waving it around. Some are interpreting this to be his attempt at healing himself without injuring anyone else, while others assert it’s Denji shining through and thinking of Blood Devil/Fiend Power. This does make sense, as Denji last saw Power after transforming into Pochita’s Hero of Hell form.
Chainsaw Man chapter 177: War’s reach
Chainsaw Man chapter 177 then shifts docs to a house in Texas in the United States of America, where a man is watching TV while drinking something. He suddenly cries out in pain as blood splatters across his apartment, looking down to see that both of his index fingers are inexplicably and fully gone.
The same happens to 400,000 total members of the National Pistol Association of America, who all lose one or both of their index fingers based on what fans see. The focus then returns to Yoru, who is in a pose similar to the Statue of Liberty, However, rather than holding something in her right hand, she has her index finger pointed straight up into the sky.
Chainsaw Man chapter 177 then hones in on the State of Liberty’s face while Yoru bends her index finger down into a claw- or talon-like shape. As this happens, the issue ends with a massive crack appearing on the Statue of Liberty’s face, stretching from its hairline down to its nose, across its left eye.
Chainsaw Man chapter 177: In summation
While Chainsaw Man chapter 177 wasn’t quite as action-packed as some fans had hoped, it was still an incredibly exciting issue that sets up an explosive final stand. Yoru’s ultimate attack will likely be going up against a fully healed Hero of Hell likewise, teasing that the next issue will truly be an enthralling one. Thankfully, fans won’t need to wait too long, as there is no planned break after chapter 177’s release.
