Chainsaw Man chapter 177 recap

Chainsaw Man chapter 177 began with the Mouth Devil’s freedom being confirmed as Yoru used her new weapons made from the Tank and Gun Devils to attack Pochita. She eventually sent him flying into a building as Asa asked her if she was really okay with turning her friends (the Devils born from her) into weapons.

Yoru responded by asserting that children are their parents’ property as Pochita jumped to the top of the building he was slammed into. She then called out to Pochita and taunted him, asserting that he was now fearful of her while demanding they fight. However, Pochita disappeared, leading Yoru to call out to him and demand to show himself.

Meanwhile, Pochita found a blood drive, picking up a sign advertising it after scaring off the original girl wearing it. This was seemingly done in an effort to heal his right arms, which were still missing following Yoru’s initial attack in chapter 176.

The focus then shifted to Texas in the United States, where a man’s index fingers were suddenly ripped off of him and disappeared. This happened to 400 thousand members of the National Pistol Association of America as Yoru, in Japan, struck a pose similar to the Statue of Liberty in New York City.

The issue ended with Yoru being her finger into a claw- or talon-like shape, as a massive crack appeared in the Statue of Liberty’s face as a result.

What to expect from Chainsaw Man chapter 178 (speculative)

Chainsaw Man chapter 178 will almost certainly open up with a continued focus on the Statue of Liberty, revealing exactly what Yoru is doing to it. However, in typical fashion for mangaka Tatsuki Fujimoto, this will perhaps be done in a roundabout way.

A loredump from someone high up in the United States government or their version of Public Safety seems resultanlty likely before seeing what happened to the Statue of Liberty. This may reveal that yet another Devil born from Yoru and war is being kept within the Statue of Liberty.

Yoru is probably either calling upon its power to weaponize it, or simply summoning it here as another ally to fight Pochita with, setting up a disastrous bout for chapter 178.
