With War Devil Yoru seemingly making a sacrifice to an incredibly powerful Devil or force as Pochita tries to heal up, Chainsaw Man chapter 178 will likely all but conclude their battle. Likewise, fans are desperate for any and all spoilers they can find on the issue, both for what Yoru is about to do and what the outcome of the next stage of their fight will be.

Unfortunately, fans have no way of knowing that for sure as of this article’s writing, with Chainsaw Man chapter 178 officially releasing next Wednesday, September 4, 2024 in Japan. Moreover, the digital publication nature of the series has resulted in no regular spoiler process for the series being created, meaning fans are unlikely to receive any pre-publication info.

However, there are still aspects of and events within Chainsaw Man chapter 178 which fans can count on being present even without the help of verifiable spoilers. More specifically, fans will likely learn that New York City’s Statue of Liberty is home to yet another Devil which is under Yoru’s dominion given her title of War Devil.

Chainsaw Man chapter 178 will likely open up with a cotninued focus on what Yoru is doing to cause a crack in the Statue of Liberty, and National Pistol Association members’ fingers to be sacrificed.

However, rather than focusing on these members or the Statue of Liberty, focus will likely shift to some sort of United States governmental body. More likely than not, this will be their version of Public Safety.

This focus on “American Public Safety” will likely then see some higher ups discussing exactly what is happening via Yoru’s latest actions. This should lead to fans learning the name of what Devil or force is being kept inside of the Statue of Liberty which Yoru is clearly calling on.

Although it’s difficult to guess exactly what this new Devil or force is, it will almost certainly be related to the concept of war in some way given Yoru’s apparent control over it.

Chainsaw Man chapter 178 should see them discuss the terms of whatever contract they made with this new Devil that is allowing her to steal the index fingers of National Pistol Association members.

More likely than not, this will be revealed as similar to the president’s contract with the Gun Devil as seen in Part 1. In other words, it’s likely that the Association’s members were offered up as a part of the contract without their consent or knowledge.

This should prompt a shift in focus back to Pochita, where it’s likely that someone will approach him and give him the blood he’s asking for.

One possibility is Miri Sugo, especially considering the dissolution of the Chainsaw Man Church and his previous affection for and affiliation with Denji. It’s also possible that Kobeni Higashiyama makes a return, serving as a callback to her original involvement with Pochita as seen in Part 1’s final chapters.

In turn, that could tease a Kishibe return as well before shifting focus back to Yoru. At this point, the issue will likely end with Yoru calling whatever Devil she is attempting to control to her, revealing its name in the process. The final panel will likely then be a shot of the Statue of Liberty and what it looks like in the aftermath of whatever is inside of it being broken out.
