Chainsaw Man chapter 180 recap
Chainsaw Man chapter 180 began with Yoru preparing to attack the Aging Devil again. However, the Aging Devil countered with a “bang” attack of its own, which transported Yoru (in Asa’s body) to a new world while Asa imagined she was having her recurring dream again. Asa then awoke in this new world, which was a seemingly massive forest with a lake. Asa found an untransformed Denji sleeping on the ground next to her.
However, Yoru seized the opportunity to take over their shared body, attempting to murder Denji despite him clearly not being her target, Pochita. However, Yoru’s powers didn’t work, seemingly scaring her enough to allow Asa to take back over. A man then approached and explained that this was a world the Aging Devil created. He was sent here when he said he’d make a contract with an Aging Devil if one existed, while passing a mirror.
The Aging Devil seemingly then took this as a request or contract, as the man was brought to this world immediately after. He told Asa he hadn’t found an exit yet in the 82 years he’d been there. He also added that he’s the youngest one here and that the humans here are seemingly immortal, but some have lost their minds. The issue ended with the man telling Asa someone once escaped, but not offering any details before seemingly going insane.
What to expect from Chainsaw Man chapter 181 (speculative)
Chapter 181 is almost certain to open up with a focus on Denji’s perspective following the framing of the current narrative in the last issue. This would also make sense, as fans haven’t seen Denji since chapter 171. This issue also gave no significant dialogue from him regarding Nayuta’s death, further suggesting a focus on him is soon to come.
Chapter 181 should also separate Denji and Asa at least briefly, allowing the latter to confront Yoru on her attempted murder of Denji in chapter 181. This will likely cause the two to butt heads, with Yoru likely threatening to kill Asa and the young girl responding apathetically given the apparent hopelessness of the current situation.
