Chainsaw Man chapter 183 treated fans to a cameo of the much-loved Reze. It was thrilling to see her finally appear, and it might just be a subtle hint at her making a comeback. The chapter took a unique turn when it featured Denji's key memories tied to past relationships flashing before his eyes.

The Snow Devil reminded him of his Hokkaido Trip with Aki and Power. But the next one was more intriguing: the Bitterness Devil, recalling his brief yet intense encounter with the Bomb Girl. Despite their turbulent bond, Reze was an impactful figure in his life and quite important to him.

The bittersweet feelings associated with her might be a hint that she may reappear. Reze did suffer an unfortunate fate, but in the end, she survived and disappeared without a trace. Her character arc was unique and considering the flashbacks of Chainsaw Man chapter 183, Reze's return could be on the cards.

Chainsaw Man chapter 183's Reze panel may have teased her return

As a brief reminder, Reze was introduced in the Bomb Girl Arc as a character who would become highly significant in Denji's life. The arc's titular antagonist was tasked with getting close to and taking Denji's heart, quite literally! But somewhere during her mission, she fell for the boy. She was later captured and used by Makima to fight Chainsaw Man before escaping when Makima was defeated.

Now, the beginning of Chainsaw Man chapter 183 showcases Denji facing an intense series of flashbacks after he threw up the Snow and Bitterness Devils' heads. Denji then soon realized that Pochita didn't consume them to make him forget but regurgitated them to remind him that there was still something worth living for. This reminder came in the form of memories.

As mentioned earlier, the Snow Devil was linked to Denji's Hokkaido Trip, and the Bitterness Devil reminded Denji of the bitter coffee he had shared with Reze. This feature will focus on the latter and a theory around it. The theory speculates that the Reze flashback in Chainsaw Man chapter 183 was different from the one with Aki and Power and could likely be a hint at her return.

When Denji saw Aki and Power, their backs were turned to him, signifying they were leaving him behind (to the afterlife). But Reze's front was shown, and she even turned to face him. Thus, according to this, the theory speculates that Reze being depicted this way could mean that her return might be nigh. It could be the author's way of hinting at the same.

Could Reze really return?

This theory does seem promising for many, and truth be told, it could be possible. Reze's current status is unknown. All that we know is that after being free of Makima's control, she fled the scene. Nothing was mentioned of her beyond that. This, very understandably, leads to massive speculation that Reze is alive and well, and might just make an emphatic comeback.

Further, there is good reason for her to return as well. To begin with, her and Denji's story is still incomplete. It did not reach a proper conclusion and from Part I, we know that the two like each other quite a lot. Reze can be compared to an unhealed wound for Denji. There is still more to their story and this is the best time to pick up where it was left off.

Next, Reze was important to Denji because she represented a rare genuine emotional connection in his life. Unlike many who wanted to exploit him, Reze offered him tenderness, despite her mission. She stood out due to her charm, playful demeanor, and ability to make him feel valued and loved. In comparison, Makima never saw Denji and couldn't relate to him like Reze did.

Furthermore, Reze and Denji's bond underscored the latter's desire for normalcy and love. She was kind to him, which made him question the sincerity of his other relationships. Even as the Bomb Devil is revealed, her hesitation in killing him highlights her true feelings for him, making their bond all the more deep and tragic. In tandem, even Power didn't rouse such feelings in Denji, as they shared more of a sibling-like tie.

Final Thoughts

Chainsaw Man chapter 183 expertly blends Denji's memories and emotions, reminding fans of characters he cherished. Reze’s brief but impactful cameo, where she turns to face Denji, diverges from the distant figures of Aki and Power, suggesting she may not be all that out of reach. Such a difference implies that her reappearance in Chainsaw Man chapter 183 might not just be a memory.

Reze’s influence lingered long after her departure, symbolizing the sentimental nature of love and loss in Denji’s chaotic life. Her being shown in that manner may as well be a foreshadowing of a future reunion. With Denji in immediate need of assistance, Reze’s return will potentially play a vital role. Her status remaining unconfirmed further heightens the anticipation of a comeback.
