While fans’ focus is primarily on Reze’s return in Chainsaw Man chapter 183, the chapter was also significant for Aki Hayakawa and Power’s returns. Despite having less of a role than fans thought they would heading into the issue, it was nevertheless exciting to see Denji muse on and confirm his feelings for the pair.

Although it had already been made clear long before in Chainsaw Man chapter 183 that Denji loved Aki and Power, fans were nevertheless happy to see him outwardly admit this. However, Denji’s words on the pair went even further by the issue’s end, in turn proving exactly how much they meant to Denji and what role the pair played in his life.

Chainsaw Man chapter 183 sees Denji call Power and Aki his “family”

While Chainsaw Man chapter 183’s flashback sequence wasn’t primarily focused on Power and Aki as fans suspected, it nevertheless kept them as a focal point. This is done via the pair being the first thing Denji remembers, as well as his confirmation that he viewed them and Nayuta as his family with his words later on in the issue.

Likewise, the issue also sees him finally realize that he should happily remember the time he spent with Aki and Power rather than mourning them for how much they mean to him. It’s an incredibly touching sequence that both pushes Denji’s character development forward and gives fans a feel-good Hayakawa family moment after seeing the trio apart for so long.

While this isn’t Chainsaw Man chapter 183’s only focus, it is one that many fans are specifically honing in on. The trio’s status as the Public Safety Saga’s central group of characters undoubtedly plays a role here, as does the significance of Denji’s revelation of them in the issue.

Fan reaction

Understandably, fans are incredibly excited to learn what Aki and Power truly mean to Denji and to see him call them his family. Fans are celebrating this in many ways, either by expanding on what Chainsaw Man chapter 183 says on the matter, or sharing how happy it makes them to see Denji reach this point.

“#csm183 Seeing power and aki through denji's eyes makes my heart ache.. in the middle of all the chaos in denji's life, there was power and aki; his safe space, his family, his home.. and now, that's all gone, nayuta included,” expounded one fan.
“i haven't had a feeling of anticipation and excitement like this for a csm chapter in a while. Instead of dread, I actually feel kind of happy? Power and Aki, I've missed you... #csm183,” confessed another.
“He loved Aki and Power so much 😭🫂 #CSM183,” pointed out a third.

Others are understandably celebrating or praising the other reappearances in the chapter, as well as those characters who were left out.

“#csm183 something special about this chapter is the fact that MAKIMA was not mentioned even once. Didn‘t even get to see her as a flashback the way we saw Power & Aki. She wasn’t tied into the people that Denji loves,” posted one reader.
“#chainsawman #csm183 SPOILERS
oh my god he grouped her in with power aki and nayuta and said he loved her i knew her reappearance was coming BUT I DIDNT THINK ITD BE LIKE THAT anyways reze i always knew u were specialll,” celebrated a second.
“POWER, AKI, REZE, NAYUTA AND MEOWY SIGHTINGS ALL IN THE SAME CHAPTER 😭🙏 #csm183,” exclaimed a third.

In any case, it’s clear fans are happily celebrating the reappearance of so many beloved characters. While Chainsaw Man chapter 183 wasn’t quite what the fandom was expecting, they are nearly universally celebrating the course it did take.
