Chainsaw Man may not have introduced the true Famine Devil yet

Chainsaw Man has introduced several intriguing Devils, embodying terrifying fears and possessing unique abilities. Among the most powerful are the Four Horsemen, a quadrumvirate of powerful and influential Devils: the Control Devil, Famine Devil, War Devil, and Death Devil. A recently surfaced theory focuses on Fami (the Famine Devil) and speculates on her true form.

So far, fans have seen the Control Devil (Makima, Nayuta) and the War Devil (Yoru), but little is known about the Death Devil. Meanwhile, Fami lingers in the background with limited information about her identity and abilities. This has led to speculation that she is hiding her true form, Kiga, and could be the ultimate mastermind.

One of the Four Horsemen, Fami, or Famine Devil, embodies the fear of hunger and starvation. She debuted in chapter 108 and has played an increasingly mysterious role in the series. Her aim is to strengthen the War Devil, instill fear in Chainsaw Man to grow his power, and ultimately stop the Prophecy of Nostradamus from coming true.

But what if Fami is the ultimate puppeteer orchestrating this chaotic dance in Chainsaw Man Part II? This idea is supported by a new theory about the series. To begin with, the Four Horsemen possess inherent natures of the fears they embody. For example, Makima's need for dominance and Yoru's inability to see people beyond anything but tools or weapons.

Similarly, Fami must be tortured by constant hunger. This can be looked at from both a material and a metaphorical sense. As she stated, she wants to prevent her favorite food from extinction. However, she never seems satisfied, always looking tired, straight-faced, and listless, as if food doesn't energize her. This could be true for her personality as well, people don't satisfy.

This feeds into her being the mastermind behind everything. She has likely become indifferent due to her existence being constantly troubled by hunger, as the theory speculates. Hence, she might feel that the world is what will ultimately satisfy her. So in tandem, her true form could be something planet-sized, Kiga, capable of devouring Earth itself.

However, if she were to do so, everything on it would die. So, to counter that, she weaves her stated aim of stopping the Death Devil through Yoru and Chainsaw Man. It is assumed that wiping out the Death Devil would erase the concept of Death and possibly promote immortality. Therefore, if she were to consume Earth, she might finally be satisfied.

But even so, that might not happen due to the nature of hunger or starvation. The inherent want that drives hunger is likely unending and thus continues to exist. Fami's desire to erase Death would stand as the ultimate Gluttony. Also, an infinite existence would be enticing to one who is in constant need of fulfillment, living a tortured life of hedonism, and the pleasure of hunger.

Final thoughts

This theory is yet another Chainsaw Man theory that takes its place in the plethora of speculations formulated thus far. As crazy as it might sound, creator Tatsuki Fujimoto has proved himself to be a master at storytelling and continues to surprise fans with each released chapter.

As such, he is yet to reveal much about Fami, apart from her goal and the fear she embodies. However, the theory does seem plausible, as ridding the world of the Death Devil would be beneficial to quite a few parties, including the Four Horsemen themselves.

Whether this theory materializes or not depends on the story's progression and the rabbits Fujimoto pulls out of his hat in future chapters.
