Chainsaw Man chapter 182 may be a significant turning point in terms of character development for our protagonists. So far, both Denji and Asa Mitaka/Yoru have gone through considerable trauma which has shaped them as they are. Finding each other played a further role in their development.
Amidst this, Asa was shown to harbor feelings for Denji while Yoru seemingly wanted to weaponize him. However, the events of the most recent chapter say otherwise. It looks like not only Asa but Yoru has grown to like Denji and possibly even developed feelings for him.
Maybe she finally doesn't want to weaponize him, and we could see them pairing up against the looming Death Devil threat once they escape Aging Devil's world.
Chainsaw Man: Fans' opinion on Yoru's feelings might be misinformed
Chainsaw Man chapter 182 began with Yoru kissing Denji, trying to calm him down. While in a normal circumstance, he would be relishing it, this time he was understandably confused. Just as he started to form words, Yoru called him "cute when he cries" and leaned in for another kiss. But this just resulted in more confusion for him as he pushed her off and tried to steady himself.
This little segment might be the truth regarding Yoru's feelings for Denji. Before her "confession," the War Devil Yoru was shown to be interested only in Chainsaw Man and in turning Denji into a weapon. But that might have been in the initial bits before she knew Denji as a person. In hindsight, Yoru taking over and kissing Denji twice before was likely a hint to this.
The first time was when Denji and Asa went on a date to watch a movie. She tried to mislead him into believing that Asa was head over heels for him, causing Asa to push him away to protect him. But Yoru took over and pulled him in for a kiss. The second one was in the alleyway when Asa was trying to calm Denji down as he was hitting a low. This time, too, Yoru took over and went straight for the kiss.
These two incidents and the kiss in chapters 181-182 likely highlight Yoru's true feelings for the boy. Initially, it might have been shallow and part of the plan to lure him in to turn him into a weapon. But after that, it is quite possible that these feelings began to develop within her. Her calling him "cute" as he cried is a testament to this.
Another possible explanation is that Asa's feelings toward Denji influence Yoru's feelings. At this point, we know there is a tension between the two. Their aquarium date and the times they spent after that resulted in Asa growing fond of him, as he grew fond of her, too. Moreover, this whole time, Asa has never been seen to wish harm upon the boy.
Given Asa and Yoru's bond, they likely influence the other's feelings and psyche. Yoru's behavior changed drastically from fighting Chainsaw Man to kissing Denji in just a few chapters. This again likely means that Yoru views Chainsaw Man, i.e., Pochita and Denji, as separate individuals despite them being one. Hence, Yoru might have also developed a fondness for Denji, akin to Asa.
Final thoughts
Chainsaw Man might have cleverly misguided fans regarding what Yoru actually felt for Denji. All this time, it seemed like Asa was interested in Denji but not Yoru. Understandably, the War Devil wanted to turn him into a weapon to suit her needs and ultimately achieve her goal.
However, being one with Asa and spending time with Denji (as Asa did), she, too, might have developed a soft spot for him. Further, her being a Devil also meant that she was unaware of the way humans usually behave, and hence, she acted on impulse/instinct, i.e., kissing him, which she felt from within.
So, we might just see the trio make peace and possibly team up against the Aging Devil and, ultimately, the Death Devil when they escape.
